Weather
The weather in the UK can vary from day to day. Warmer and hotter months are between April to September. Colder months with snow, sleet and rain are between October and March. Currency
Britain’s currency is the pound sterling (£), which is divided into 100 pence (p).
Scotland has its own pound sterling notes. These represent the same value as an English note and can be used elsewhere in Britain. The Scottish £1 note is not accepted outside Scotland.
There are lots of bureaux de change in Britain – often located inside:
• banks
• travel agents
• Post Offices
• airports
• major train stations.
It's worth shopping around to get the best deal and remember to ask how much commission is charged.

Time Difference
During the winter months, Britain is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time and 10 hours behind Sydney. Western standard time is five hours behind.
From late March until late October, the clocks go forward one hour to British Summer Time (BST).
To check the correct time, contact the Speaking Clock service by dialling 123.
Weight And Measurements
Britain is officially metric, in line with the rest of Europe. However, imperial measures are still in use, especially for road distances, which are measured in miles. Imperial pints and gallons are 20 per cent larger than US measures.
Imperial to Metric
1 inch = 2.5 centimetres
1 foot = 30 centimetres
1 mile = 1.6 kilometres
1 ounce = 28 grams
1 pound = 454 grams
1 pint = 0.6 litres
1 gallon = 4.6 litres

Passport And Visas Requirements To Enter The UK
Please note: Following the recent referendum vote for the UK to leave the European Union (EU), there are currently no changes in the way people travel to Britain. The following guidelines still apply:
If you're planning an adventure to the UK, depending on your nationality and your reason for visiting, you may need to organise a visa.
If you're an American, Canadian or Australian tourist, you'll be able to travel visa-free throughout the UK, providing you have a valid passport and your reason for visiting meets the immigration rules (link is external).
Citizens from some South American and Caribbean countries as well as Japan are also able to travel visa-free around the UK.
European Union citizens, non-EU member states of the EEA (Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland), Switzerland, and members of the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) do not need a visa to enter the UK.
If you have any further visa questions visit the official UK government website.

Tottenham fans escape crush years before Hillsborough disaster
Match commander on the day the tragedy, David Duckenfield, 74, and Sheffield Wednesday's safety officer Graham Mackrell, 69, are both on trial over the disaster. Footage was shown today of Tottenham fans being allowed on to the pitch perimeter track following a crushing incident on the terrace at the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1981. The 1981 footage shows fans climbing over a fence from a packed Leppings Lane End, where the Liverpool fans were crushed in 1989.

Masterminds UK Tour - 13 gigs in 11 cities. That was one FANTASTIC experience! We’ve travelled 3112 miles, met so many lovely people, made new friends and fans, played our favourite songs and couldn’t believe that the audience knew the lyrics and was singing them with us. We’ve shared the stage with the best of British bands and celebrated 1 year since our first gig with Dani and Frazer.
We’ve helped the homeless and got our rear wiper torn off by monkeys in Liverpool, found King Arthur’s round table in Winchester, had two dogs in the audience and a talking parrot in the hotel in Sheffield, tried to speak Welsh in Cardiff, went on air in Bristol, found Harry Potter lair in Oxford, discovered that Converse are not trainers and got almost kicked out of the venue we’ve just played in Nottingham, went to the beach in Brighton, played “dressing room pool” in Leicester, made friends from Brazil in Doncaster and had the time of our lives at the legendary Barfly in London.
Thank you!
PLASTIC BARRICADES – Masterminds
When the thrill is gone and your hands stop shaking
Heartbeat slowing down
You need a light
That guides you all the way
Roaming lands
Drawing maps
Absorb ideas, emotion fields
And let them bloom inside!
Long roads may wind!
Holding hands,
Never tired of the world we created!
Plan your daily dreams
Let a little bit of chaos in
Deep inside you know for sure
Where to find the only cure
Runaway into the night
Spend some time in a lonely flight
In the end of tunnel there be light
Invent and fly!
You are here to shine!
There is a place you got to find
Just behind the waterfall of lies, uncertainty and ignorance and fear
Step inside, stay awhile
You know there is so much more to give
Close your eyes and feel the breeze
Believe in your ideas
Tell all your doubts to stay away
You’re the mastermind of everyday!
Mastermind of everyday!
Chase your hopes and dreams
And enjoy what tomorrow brings
There are no limits, just frontiers
Up high in the atmosphere
Come out, stop hiding, don’t be scared
The world needs you –
Уou need some air
Burst out – and flare!
Plan your daily dreams
Let a little bit of chaos in
Deep inside you know for sure
Where to find the only cure
Runaway into the night
Spend some time in a lonely flight
In the end of tunnel there be light
