Later this year, when the Wigan Warriors squad gather at Orrell for pre-season training, there will be a strange and empty feel to the place. The toss and churn of the off-season is a familiar rhythm to most Super League clubs these days, but even so, it’s hard to escape the sense that somehow, this will feel just that little bit different. No longer will the corridors reverberate with the surround-sound bollocking-brogue of Shaun Wane, leaving after 30 years at the club as apprentice, player, s...

Naked UK Fugitive Mark Lilley Found In Panic Room Spain
One of Britain's most wanted men has been caught hiding naked in a panic room at his luxury Spanish villa.
Convicted drug trafficker Mark Lilley was captured when more than 40 armed officers smashed their way into the house in Malaga.
Officers were unable to get into his panic room, but he surrendered when he realised there was no escape.
He had rushed to the sealed room - hidden behind a wardrobe in his bedroom - after dogs he kept in his garden began barking, alerting him to the dawn raid on Saturday.
Lilley, who went on the run in 2000 when he skipped bail during his trial, was able to watch the raid unfolding with a computer linked to CCTV cameras.
Footage of the operation shows officers climbing over a gate before running to Lilley's front door and breaking it down with a battering a ram.
He is seen being handcuffed with a strip of cloth wrapped around his waist.
A police helicopter hovered above the villa in the Alhurin de la Torre area during the raid, which was a joint operation by the Spanish National Police and Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca).
A handgun was recovered.
Extradition proceedings have begun to return Lilley to the UK.
After going on the run, Lilley, 41, from Warrington, Cheshire, was given a 23-year prison sentence in his absence for masterminding a large-scale drug operation and firearm offences.
Dave Allen, head of the fugitives unit at Soca, said: Lilley was a dangerous man with access to firearms. He had evaded capture for a long time by moving around Spain and using false identities.
My message for other fugitives on the run is a simple one - we will hunt you down and you will face justice for your crimes.
Roger Critchell, director of operations at Crimestoppers, said: We are extremely relieved that this dangerous drug dealer has been arrested and will be made to face justice.
Lilley was the 51st suspect located out of 65 wanted by Operation Captura officers.

UK's Scariest Debt Collector (Part 1/2)
Continue to part 2/2 here:
Ten years ago Shaun Smith was an enforcer for one of the biggest crime families in Liverpool and embroiled in a war against a rival drug gang.
Shaun introduced urban terrorism to the British underworld. He sprayed up houses with machine guns, tortured people and used homemade napalm to firebomb his enemies.
Today, after a spell of five years in prison for firearms offences, he is trying to transfer those skills to the legal economy by working as a debt collector in the northern English satellite town of Warrington.

Great Grass supplies Artificial Grass to champion winning football club Manchester City!
Great grass received a call from Manchester City on Wed 15th August 2012 at 5.00 pm
The club had been let down by another supplier and needed the artificial grass for 10.00 am the next morning!
We were able to cut to size and deliver the grass they required the following morning, as requested for the start of the event. The grass was used by MCFC CITC for local children and adults to play interactive football, which involved shooting footballs through numbered squares as well as taking and recording the speed of penalties.Over 10,000 penalties were taken on our artificial grass during the event and hundreds of people took part in the event.
At the end of the event the grass was still as good as new and is still being used for events and corporate days by MCFC.
Thanks to greatgrass for coming to our rescue and supplying us with the perfect grass for our event. We really would have been stuck without great grass. - MCFC

'Paedophile hunter' sting caught on camera - BBC News
Police have said they may have to work with paedophile hunters after new figures revealed a rise in their evidence being used in court. Figures obtained by the BBC show 11% of court cases in 2014 for the crime of meeting a child following sexual grooming used evidence from hunters, rising to 44% in 2016.
Southampton-based Stephen Dure, known as Stevie Trap, has seen his evidence used in three court cases this year following stings.
In one case, he posed as a 14-year-old boy when chatting to Robert Babey who is due to be sentenced later this month after admitting multiple breaches of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

My daughter has gone but our family will fight on
Emma Borg, a mother from Newport, and her family were followed for three years by Sky Atlantic for an extraordinary documentary. Central to the drama was her struggle to deal with the death of her daughter Xana, 19 – which filmmakers, who had been more interested in Emma’s husband-to-be, Tony, didn’t even know about when filming began. One of the killers was released from jail while the cameras were rolling, with the second released just before Christmas. “They didn’t care about what they’d done, just how much time they would get,” Emma said on Thursday. “The judge did the best he could.” Trending Xana was killed when a stolen car in which she was a passenger flipped at 60mph on a Newport street on January 9, 2015. Sakhawat Ali, 23, high on cocaine and cannabis and twice the drink-drive limit, had given Xana a lift home from a party. His cousin Shabaz Ali, 21, also high on drugs, who was a passenger, grabbed the handbrake as a joke. The car flew 10ft in the air and landed on its roof. Shabaz, the court heard, had taken the keys to his parents’ car without them knowing. Sentenced to eight and seven years jail respectively, they were out of prison in under five years. “Something needs to be done,” said Emma, 45, who has three other children. “I would start a campaign about it, but I haven’t got the strength right now. I’ve been back to college to study nursing and I just need to focus on something else. I now have a job as a psychiatric nurse in a secure unit. It’s challenging.” Talking in the dining room of her Newport home where the documentary, This Is Our Family, was filmed, Emma’s voice cracked with emotion as she made her plea to authorities. Asked how she would mark the anniversary, she said: “I don’t really intend to mark it. Keeping busy is the best thing to do otherwise I couldn’t cope with it. “It feels like 50 years since I’ve heard her voice but five beats of my heart since I was told she had gone...” Dealing with the tragedy doesn’t get any easier. “There’s something every day that makes you think about her,” she said. “You’ve got to try to put it to the back of your mind, just close it off, or you wouldn’t be able to cope. I don’t dwell on the two men. It’s not justice for Xana.” Emma’s husband is Welsh boxing trainer Tony Borg, and the documentary takes the viewer on a rollercoaster journey as Emma tries to cope with the loss of Xana while preparing to marry him. Tony, 55, Xana’s stepfather, said: “The sentence was crazy. It should be the same as manslaughter. They should have had 15 years. “They killed her – at the end of the day it was the same result as being stabbed.” Borg, who met Emma 20 years ago, has had an illustrious career in the ring, both as a trainer and professional boxer. His first professional fight was in 1983, and he went on to have 13 wins. Hanging up the gloves in 1992, he had notable successes as a trainer with British amateur champion Joshua John as well as former world champion Lee Selby.
