100 Anniversary Celebration of the 1st World War in Brasov Romania E019
The military is holding a celebration in Brasov, Romania to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of when Romania joined WW1. I captured the military formation ceremony and interview one of the men in uniform about the celebration. I also wandered around the city and explored the famous Strada Sforii (Rope Street) which is supposed to be the narrowest street in all of Europe.

The Council Square (Piața Sfatului) - Brașov Old Town - Romania
Photos on my instagram account
The Council Square (Piața Sfatului) is the heart of the old medieval Brașov.
The most important building in the square is the former Council House (Casa Sfatului), which was built in 1420 and is located in the middle of the square. Around the main square is the picturesque pedestrian-only Republicii street, the Black Church, former Council House, indoor and outdoor terraces and restaurants, the Orthodox Church, Casa Mureșenilor museum, Museum of Urban Civilization, Hirscher House, the Rope Street (Strada Sforii) and more.
Every year the “Golden Stag” (Cerbul de Aur) music festival takes place here.
Brasov city of Romania - Город Брашов
Brasov city of Romania
Brasov is a mountain resort city in Transylvania, Romania. Brasov is one of the largest cities in Romania. It is located almost in the centre of the country and surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains. Brașov, also known as Kronstadt in German or Brassó in Hungarian. The population of the city is 283,901 people.
The city provides a mix of wonderful mountain scenery in the nearby Poiana Braşov and medieval history with German influences in the old town. The city is 176 km from Bucharest.
Braşov is up there with Sinaia and the surrounding mountain resorts as the most visited city in Transylvania, Romania, and this is something that's not in vain. Braşov boasts everything from dynamic modern city life to old world charm and fascinating scenery. Also, it's pleasant to have some of the extras as well, including some of the best cleanliness records in the country, great transport and great food. Even though it's a bit overpriced for Romanian standards, especially in the high season, Braşov is definitely worth it. As some people say, Why bother coming to Romania if you're not going to see Braşov?
The Braşov county is one of the most visited by tourists. Other than Braşov city and its immediate attractions, the resorts of Poiana Braşov (12 km west) and Predeal (27 km south), are also well worth visiting. Other places and tourist attractions of the county: Bran, Moeciu, Râşnov, Făgăraş, Prejmer, Zărneşti, Sâmbăta (at the foot of the Făgăraş mountains).
Braşov has relatively cold and wet weather, especially at night. This region of Romania enjoys four seasons (i.e. spring and autumn as well as winter and summer). The average temperature is 7.6°C only, even though in summer temperatures may reach up to 35°C.
Due to fairly large minority populations, Hungarian and German are also spoken in addition to Romanian. Many locals also speak English.
Main attractions:
1.Old Town
2.The Black Church
3.Town History Museum
4.Strada Sforii (Rope Street) - Narrowest street in Europe
5.Panoramic Tâmpa - beautiful view of the old city and the surrounding nature from 900 meters above sea-level
6.The old Synagogue
7.The Braşov Citadel
8.Town History Museum
9.Schei district - Just outside the citadel
Main attractions:
1.Biserica Sf. Nicolae
2.Biserica Sf. Treime

An Unforgettable Journey to Brasov 2014
Come and Visit Romania
Video - Valsan George
Walk in Brasov - visiting Transylvania # 5. The Weavers' Bastion - Bastionul Tesatorilor.
The bastion was built in two phases between 1421-1436 and 1570-1573. Part of it collapsed in 1701, thus it was reconstructed in 1750 and restored in 1910. The hexagon shaped building occupies 1.616 sq.metres and its thick (1.5-3m ) battered walls also have loopholes for pouring tar. On the ground floor there are crevices for cannons. On the interior side of the walls there are 3-4 storey hallways. In 1800 two other constructions were built for the guilt, while in 1807, when the bastion lost its protective function a watch house was built to the entrance. The year 1908 brings along changes and the bastion becomes the scene of more and more cultural events. Due to its excellent acoustic even opera nights were held here. Since 1950 it houses a museum. The permanent exhibition entitled 'Brasov castle and the Bársza country fortresses' displays weapons from the middle ages, products made by the guilds, the scale model of the city in the middle ages, made by Friedrich Herman in 1896, as well as the scale model of Schei.
I'll be back !

4 Romani in Siberia ep.1
Iasi - Ucraina - Rusia - Mongolia - Rusia - Kazakhstan - Kirgizstan - Tadjikistan inclusiv GBAO - Uzbekistan - Kazakhstan - Rusia - Georgia - Turcia - Bulgaria - Iasi

Cucuteni–Trypillia culture
Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills

SUMMARY
=======
The Cucuteni–Trypillia culture (Romanian: Cultura Cucuteni and Ukrainian: Трипільська культура), also known as the Tripolye culture (Russian: Трипольская культура), is a Neolithic–Eneolithic archaeological culture (c. 5200 to 3500 BC) of Eastern Europe.
It extended from the Carpathian Mountains to the Dniester and Dnieper regions, centred on modern-day Moldova and covering substantial parts of western Ukraine and northeastern Romania, encompassing an area of 350,000 km2 (140,000 sq mi), with a diameter of 500 km (300 mi; roughly from Kyiv in the northeast to Brașov in the southwest). The majority of Cucuteni–Trypillia settlements consisted of high-density, small settlements (spaced 3 to 4 kilometres apart), concentrated mainly in the Siret, Prut and Dniester river valleys.
During the Middle Trypillia phase (c. 4000 to 3500 BC), populations belonging to the Cucuteni–Trypillia culture built the largest settlements in Neolithic Europe, some of which contained as many as 3,000 structures and were possibly inhabited by 20,000 to 46,000 people. One of the most notable aspects of this culture was the periodic destruction of settlements, with each single-habitation site having a lifetime of roughly 60 to 80 years. The purpose of burning these settlements is a subject of debate among scholars; some of the settlements were reconstructed several times on top of earlier habitational levels, preserving the shape and the orientation of the older buildings. One particular location; the Poduri site in Romania, revealed thirteen habitation levels that were constructed on top of each other over many years.
In a Paper Hut by Sha Sha Higby, outdoor performance on the coast at Commonweal
This is a local meditation hut and was shot during a recent exhibition of the Muse by Art for All People at Commonweal in July,2014. Imagne you were out hikHere is a poem to get you into the mood. All rights reserved on this video.
We start early in the morning to climb the mountains,
Fog lifts in ribbons off the autumn trees,
Man with his cow and rope on the side of the road
Churches have spires, like the fantasies of fairy tales
Showers of yellow forests reflect on fallen leaves.
Geometric wooden shingles of the houses
Crisscross in zigzag patterns
Sculpted Cyprus trees pierce the deciduous forest.
We pass the summit, lots of snow.
Woman with her potatoes,
People selling mushrooms, waving us down
A man bicycles with his cabbages,
Handmade birdhouses over the entrances of each house
Smells of burning hay.
Man with a complexion of cheese
And pinkish red coat grins towards me
We stop by side of road for sugar pastries rolled on an iron pillar
We are 12 miles outside of Brasov
Snow capped hills above glistening long valley
Woman with her potatoes, cabbages
Corn on the side of the road
More buggies and carts and people piled up on dried corn
Pimento and pickle conserves for sale
Cabbages on the rolling wooden carts
Rolling in the darkness of night,
This morning in the cool of the morning,
Visit a dark monastery
They are chanting
With candles pierced into twisted loaves of breads,
Chanting within the frankincense smoke
Shadows of golden halos and.
Vaulted ceilings.
Huge splayed birdsʼ nests on top
Of every other telephone pole
Clips of the hooves of the horses
A young colt trips along the highway
Orthodox places of worship everywhere just like pagodas in Burma
Rounded humps of hay hanging in the angles of the light,
We are on the edge of the Ukraine,
On the other side of the river,
Monastery nestled in the breast of the mountains green
Golden embroideries, a monk inch his black lace, and smooth skin reads his
book The Madonna was so beautiful .
With her hammered silver vest and halo
I know now we are in the tip of our journey having traveled all this way
To reach this peaceful place and
Find the beauty of our own backyard on a lovely day.
