Walk in Brasov - visiting Transylvania # 7. The narrow street - Rope Street - Strada Sforii.
The alley between Cerbului-, and Poarta Schei Streets is already mentioned by documents dating from the XVIIth century as a street which aided the work of firefighters. Since then it has become one of the curiosities in town. More daring people even assert that this is the narrowest street in Europe. One thing is certain: with its 111 and 135 cm alternating width it is known as the narrowest street in town. Thus, the altogether 80 meters long street became tourists' favorite site, lovers' meeting place and of course photographer's favourite subject.

PROJECT Connecting Ways Andreea Robu, Brasov
I chose bridges and streets as a symbol of community and friendship, of ideas exchange and connecting separate sides which are in isolation without them. I live in the old medieval town Brasov and Strada Sforii ( the Rope Street) is about 1 m wide and 83 long, it is very useful for the people as it allows us to cross quickly from one past of the town to another.
I have thought that EERC itself offers this possibility, of connecting places and people in the best way as it did with me and my camp mates and especially my wonderful host family, the Astleys whom I miss a lot. Now we just need to make EERC wider so we can fit more of us at once. The short movie at the end of my project was made by myself and my classmates Sanziana Marcu, Dragos Culcear and Sandra Tazlaoanu. I hope you ll like it too.

Strada Sforii - Brasov
