I thought it would be a nice drive to take through the park with the snow coming down. Belle enjoyed it. Didn't matter that it was cold out. She wanted the window down, so she could stick her head out the window and look around.

Stardust is a popular song composed in 1927 by Hoagy Carmichael with lyrics added in 1929 by Mitchell Parish. Carmichael first recorded the song, originally titled Star Dust, at the Gennett Records studio in Richmond, Indiana. The song, a song about a song about love, played in an idiosyncratic melody in medium tempo, became an American standard, and is one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, with over 1,500 total recordings. In 2004, Carmichael's original 1927 recording of the song was one of 50 recordings chosen by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry.
According to Carmichael, the inspiration for Stardust (the song's original title was Star Dust, which has long been compounded into Stardust) came to him while he was on the campus of his alma mater, Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana. He began whistling the tune, then rushed to the Book Nook, a popular student hangout, and started composing. He worked to refine the melody over the course of the next several months, likely in Bloomington or Indianapolis (sources cite various locations, and Carmichael himself liked to embellish the facts about the song's origins). Stardust was first recorded in Richmond, Indiana, for Gennett Records by Carmichael, with Emil Seidel and his Orchestra and the Dorsey brothers as Hoagy Carmichael and His Pals, on October 31, 1927.
Mitchell Parish wrote lyrics for the song, based on his own and Carmichael's ideas, which were published in 1929. A slower version had been recorded in October 1928, but the real transformation came on May 16, 1930, when bandleader Isham Jones recorded it as a sentimental ballad. Stardust is a 32-bar melody with a slightly unusual ABAC structure, preceded by a 16-bar verse. While the verse is often omitted in recordings, Frank Sinatra made a recording in 1961 of just the verse. A Pennsylvania family was horrified to discover a hidden camera recording them in their hotel room, but are they the only ones being watched? The Wallace family said they found a concealed recording device in their room at a Virginia Beach hotel over Memorial Day weekend. Angela Wallace, her husband and 11-year-old daughter found the camera pointed at the shower during their stay at The Knights Inn and Suites. The Inside Edition investigative team went to the hotel and approached the manager.

In cinemas, many people can’t always keep their feelings to themselves and that’s normal. For example, a movie about cannibals called Raw appeared to be too hard to watch for a couple of visitors at The Toronto International Film Festival in 2016. The people fainted and one of them hit his head badly during the fall.
Digital devices can do everything on their own, and there are more automatic processes at a cinema than there were during the previous century.

ABANDONED CENTRAL STATE MENTAL HOSPITAL
While the Indiana legislature had authorized the establishment of a hospital for the insane as early as 1827, the doors of the Indiana Hospital for the Insane (later re-named Central State Hospital) did not open until November, 1848. At this time, the hospital (called the Central Indiana Hospital for the Insane after 1889 and then called Central State Hospital after 1926) opened with five patients and a single building, and by 1928, physicians cared for nearly 3,000 patients. At that time, the hospital consisted of one brick building situated on a large parcel of land, numbering over 100 acres
From 1848-1948, the hospital grew yearly until it encompassed two massive ornate buildings for the male and female patients, a pathological department, a sick hospital for the treatment of physical ailments, a farm colony where patients engaged in occupational therapy, a chapel, an amusement hall complete with an auditorium, billiards, and bowling alleys, a bakery, a fire house, a cannery manned by patients, and idyllic gardens and fountains
For a half-century, this complex array of buildings and gardens beckoned to all of the state's mentally ill. By 1905, however, mental health institutions elsewhere in Indiana, built in Evansville, Logansport, Madison, and Richmond relieved an overcrowded Central State Hospital of some of its patient load, leaving it to treat only those from the central district, an area of 38 counties situated in the middle portion of the state. In 1950 patient population reached 2,500
By the early 1970s, most of the hospital's ostentatious, Victorian-era buildings were declared unsound and razed. The Men's Department Building (a Kirkbride) had been demolished in 1941. In their place, the state constructed brick buildings of a nondescript, institutional genre. These modern buildings and the medical staff therein continued to serve the state's mentally ill, until allegations of patient abuse and funding troubles sparked an effort to forge new alternatives to institutionalization which, in turn, led to the hospital's closure in 1994.

Stardust is a popular song composed in 1927 by Hoagy Carmichael with lyrics added in 1929 by Mitchell Parish. Carmichael first recorded the song, originally titled Star Dust, at the Gennett Records studio in Richmond, Indiana. The song, a song about a song about love, played in an idiosyncratic melody in medium tempo, became an American standard, and is one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, with over 1,500 total recordings. In 2004, Carmichael's original 1927 recording of the song was one of 50 recordings chosen by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry.
According to Carmichael, the inspiration for Stardust (the song's original title was Star Dust, which has long been compounded into Stardust) came to him while he was on the campus of his alma mater, Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana. He began whistling the tune, then rushed to the Book Nook, a popular student hangout, and started composing. He worked to refine the melody over the course of the next several months, likely in Bloomington or Indianapolis (sources cite various locations, and Carmichael himself liked to embellish the facts about the song's origins). Stardust was first recorded in Richmond, Indiana, for Gennett Records by Carmichael, with Emil Seidel and his Orchestra and the Dorsey brothers as Hoagy Carmichael and His Pals, on October 31, 1927.
Mitchell Parish wrote lyrics for the song, based on his own and Carmichael's ideas, which were published in 1929. A slower version had been recorded in October 1928, but the real transformation came on May 16, 1930, when bandleader Isham Jones recorded it as a sentimental ballad. Stardust is a 32-bar melody with a slightly unusual ABAC structure, preceded by a 16-bar verse. While the verse is often omitted in recordings, Frank Sinatra made a recording in 1961 of just the verse. Zip codes were invented in 1963 to help the United States Postal Service deal with huge increases in mail volume. The Zone Improvement Plan, or “ZIP” code system of addressing, organized mail delivery by dividing the country into 10 regions and assigning five digits increasing in specificity: from region to large sorting centers to smaller post offices. To promote the new system, the USPS released publicity materials featuring Mr. Zip, a cartoon character, and a song about zip codes from a band called The Swingin’ Six.
As the nation grew, the USPS updated zip codes by adding a four-digit suffix in 1983. The new suffix corresponds to specific destinations, such as one side of a street or a certain floor of an office building. Now, geocoding technology has created the possibility of even more specific addressing.

Tin Roof Blues was first recorded by the New Orleans Rhythm Kings, Richmond, Indiana, in 1923. Named for The Tin Roof Cafe at Washington Street and Claiborne Avenue in New Orleans.
Sidney Bechet was born in New Orleans in 1897 and was a child prodigy on the clarinet and soon surpassed his teachers and even as a child, he was playing with some of the top bands in New Orleans. At the age of 20, he arrived in Chicago and played with King Oliver and in 1919 he was touring Europe where he was a great sensation. It was in London that he bought his first soprano saxophone. Back in the United States, he began his recording career and worked with Clarence Williams, Louis Armstrong, Nobel Sissle, and even had a short stint with Duke Ellington.
It was in Europe that he achieved his greatest success and where eventually made his home, but he never forgot the New Orleans tradition that nurtured and inspired him. Bechet died in Paris, France, on his 62nd birthday, May 14, 1959.
