Krka National Park (Croatian: Nacionalni park Krka) is one of the Croatian national parks, named after the river Krka that it encloses. It is located along the middle-lower course of the Krka River in central Dalmatia, in Šibenik-Knin county, downstream Miljevci area, and just a few kilometers northeast of the city of Šibenik.[1] It was formed to protect the Krka River and is intended primarily for scientific, cultural, educational, recreational, and tourism activities. It is the seventh national park in Croatia and was proclaimed a national park in 1985.

Rundweg an den Schleierfällen Roski Slap ( Roški Slap ) | Kroatien 2015
Unser 1.
The Waterfalls of Roški Slap - Krka National Park
The six and second last waterfall, Roški slap, is exceptionally interesting due to its cascades, which the locals called the necklace due to the lush vegetation, mills and pillars, some of which have been restored, and much, much more.
Approximately 14 kilometres downstream from Miljacka slap is Roški slap, the sixth cascade on the Krka River. It was named after the Rog hill-fort (Rog = horn), whose ruins are barely visible today.
The canyon in this section widens into a funnel shape. The beginning of the travertine barriers is made up of a series of small cascades (called a “necklace” by the locals), while the middle portion is made up of numerous backwaters and islands. The length of the barrier is nearly 650 metres, at its widest is approximately 450 metres wide, with a total difference in altitude of 22.5 metres.
The main waterfall is found at the end of the barrier where the Krka River falls 15 metres into Visovac Lake. Travertine formations at the waterfall are made up of caves, tufts, thresholds, small barriers and tapers. The tapers appear at the base of the main waterfall and represent the specificity of the Roški slap cascades. In 1910, on the right bank of the river, the Roški slap hydroelectric plant was constructed. Over the waterfall, there is a road that dates back to Roman times.
On both riverbanks, there are numerous mills, several of which have been restored and returned to their original function. Next to the mills, there is a renovated pillar for wool production and a valjavica for washing fabrics, which have a special cultural and historical significance and as such are monuments of rural architectural and trade history. Due to their primary function and expression of rural life, these structures are considered to be ethnographic monuments. Roški slap is especially interesting due to the distinctively rich canyon vegetation which comes in contact with the dry, light and moist shady habitats.
From the Promina side, you can reach the waterfall via the road Drniš-Širitovci, and from the Bukovac side you can reach the waterfall from the village of Laškovica. From Šibenik, you can reach Roški slap via the roads Šibenik-Pakovo-Ključ-Širitovci or Šibenik-Skradin-Dubravice-Rupe-Laškovica. You can also reach Roški slap via the river from Skradinski buk on an excursion boat road provided by the Public Institution of Krka National Park.

Krka Falls | Krka National Park Croatia
Drone footage (DJI Spark) of the Skradinski buk krka falls waterfall, I took while travelling around Croatia on a road trip in September 2018. The longest waterfall on the Krka River, is one of the best known natural beauties of Croatia and the krka national park.
The cascades are composed of travertine barriers, islands, and lakes. They can be viewed throughout the entire year thanks to a network of paths and bridges that enable comfortable and safe walking. Several renovated water mills, rolling mills, and washing columns that for centuries have utilized the power of the river are also located at the Skradinski buk. Preserving the traditional folk architecture individual mills have been turned into souvenir shops, while others have been transformed into exhibition areas for ethnographic collections. The Skradinski buk Ethno Village at Krka National Park recently received the prestigious Golden Flower of Europe award (Entente Florale Europe) from the European Association for Flowers and Landscape in 2006, in a competition among several thousand sites.
The Skradinski buk can be reached from the Lozovac entrance, with free parking, while from April to October free bus transfers for individual visitors are available from the entrance to the Skradinski buk. The other entrance is in Skradin, where from April to November visitors to the waterfalls are transported by boats of the Krka National Park. Nature lovers and fans of hiking can reach the Skradinski buk along a 875 m trail from the Lozovac entrance or from Skradin, along a 4 km trail that is also a bicycle path. Excursions can be taken by boat from the Skradinski buk to Visovac Island and the Roški slap waterfall.
If you're interested in knowing how to travel croatia leave a comment and I can give some tips. I highly recommend flying to Zadar and then driving to Split via Krka. Spend a night or two in split and get the ferry to Hvar for a few days. Then drive down to Dubrovnik!
