Places to see in ( Washington - USA )
Description
Washington, DC, the U.S. capital, is a compact city on the Potomac River, bordering the states of Maryland and Virginia. It’s defined by imposing neoclassical monuments and buildings – including the iconic ones that house the federal government’s 3 branches: the Capitol, White House and Supreme Court. It's also home to iconic museums and performing-arts venues such as the Kennedy Center. The USA’s capital teems with iconic monuments, vast museums and the corridors of power where visionaries and demagogues roam.
There’s nothing quite like the Smithsonian Institution, a collection of 19 behemoth, artifact-stuffed museums, many lined up in a row along the Mall. The National Air and Space Museum, National Museum of Natural History, National Museum of African American History and Culture, Reynolds Center for American Art & Portraiture – all here, all free, always.Alongside the museums, Washington’s monuments bear tribute to both the beauty and the horror of years past. They’re potent symbols of the American narrative, from the awe-inspiring Lincoln Memorial to the powerful Vietnam Veterans Memorial to the stirring Martin Luther King Jr Memorial.
Washington is the showcase of American arts, home to such prestigious venues as the National Theatre, the Kennedy Center and the Folger Theatre. Jazz music has a storied history here. In the early 20th century, locals such as Duke Ellington climbed on stages along U St NW, where atmospheric clubs still operate. Go-go (an infectiously rhythmic dance music) and punk also have deep roots in DC.The city hosts several adventurous small theaters, like Arena Stage and Studio Theatre, that put on works by nontraditional writers. Busboys & Poets' open-mic nights provide another outlet for progressive new voices.
The president, Congress and the Supreme Court are here, the three pillars of US government. In their orbit float the Pentagon, the State Department, the World Bank and embassies from most corners of the globe. If you hadn’t got the idea, power is why Washington emits such a palpable buzz.As a visitor, there’s a thrill in seeing the action up close – to walk inside the White House, to sit in the Capitol chamber while senators argue about Arctic drilling, and to drink in a bar alongside congresspeople likely determining your newest tax hike over their single malt Scotch.
A lot of history is concentrated within DC’s relatively small confines. In a single day, you could gawp at the Declaration of Independence, the real, live parchment with John Hancock’s signature scrawled across it at the National Archives; stand where Martin Luther King Jr gave his ‘I Have a Dream’ speech on the Lincoln Memorial’s steps; prowl around the Watergate building that got Nixon into trouble; see the flag that inspired the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ at the National Museum of American History; and be an arm’s length from where Lincoln was assassinated in Ford’s Theatre.

* Motorcycle Trip to Canada From Washington State & Through Montana
* Motorcycle Trip to Nevada & California-Sworn Few Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club
* Other Motorcycle Films Here
There were multiple purposes for this motorcycle trip. First, our mission was to visit the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and also ride through Zion National Park on the way there. I had never been to these places and it was on my life list of places to ride and visit. We visited many other interesting places along the way.
Additionally, this was a trip about spending time and bonding with my brothers as we are part of a law abiding biker club.
Last, we met our beloved Patron Members of Law Abiding Biker™ Media in Salt Lake City, Utah. They took us on a great day ride and we had an awesome dinner event at a local venue. The hospitality we were shown was like none other & showcases what the law-abiding motorcycle community is truly about.

Flyin' West at Weathervane Playhouse

ABOUT THE PLAY
Set in 1898 outside the all-black town of Nicodemus, Kansas, Flyin' West examines the lives, memories and hopes of four women — two former slaves and two free women — seeking a better life. But even in the free state of Kansas — and even away from the uncertainties of the post-Civil War South — the women find that their new surroundings are not free of danger and unexpected twists.
Flyin' West playwright Pearl Cleage shaped her fictional drama around the factual ramifications of the Homestead Act, the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution.
Passed by the U.S. Congress in 1862, the Homestead Act became the vehicle by which many freed slaves could seek their liberty and reach for a piece of the American Dream. The Homestead Act enabled any applicant to get — at little or no cost — a single plot of roughly 160 acres on undeveloped federal land west of the Mississippi River. One year later, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared the freedom of slaves (in the 10 Confederate states then in rebellion against the Union). After the 13th Amendment was passed and adopted in 1865 — thus abolishing slavery — thousands of freed slaves and their families were suddenly able to decide whether to remain in the South or to strike out on their own elsewhere.
Former enslaved African Americans left the American South in organized groups at the end of the of post-Civil War Reconstruction period to experience freedom on the free soils of Kansas. The town of Nicodemus in Flyin' West represents the involvement of African Americans in the western expansion and settlement of the Great Plains. Today, according the National Park Service, it is the oldest and only remaining all-black town west of the Mississippi River.
Flyin' West was originally commissioned and produced by the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, where it premiered in November 1992. Since then, the play has been produced by hundreds of regional theaters and community-theater organizations across the United States — including a 1994 production at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
Weathervane Playhouse's production of Flyin' West is made possible with support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Country Club Hills Arlington | Top 3 Things to Know:
1. Washington Golf & Country Club. The club dates back to the 1890's. Presidents have played there. You don't have to be a member to live in the community but many people are members. The club borders the neighborhood on the south side.
2. Large Everything. Country Club Hills has the largest homes. The neighborhood has the largest lots in Arlington. And the neighborhood has the highest prices in Arlington. Everything is bigger in Country Club Hills.
3. The Hills. The terrain is very hilly. Lots of homes are set up high on a hill or low in a valley. It can be tough to find a perfectly level lot. It's doable but level lots are not common. Expect some gradient change.

Watch: Day 2 of public Trump impeachment hearings (FULL LIVE STREAM)
Watch live coverage and analysis from the Washington Post as the public hearings of the Trump impeachment inquiry continue in the House. Former ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch will testify. Washington Post reporter Libby Casey will host, joined by Post reporters Elise Viebeck, Amber Phillips, Aaron Blake and more.
Democrats are trying to build a case that Trump sought to withhold military assistance and an Oval Office meeting until Ukraine announced investigations into former vice president Joe Biden and his son. On Wednesday, William B. Taylor Jr., the acting ambassador to Ukraine, and George Kent, the deputy assistant secretary of state responsible for Ukraine, testified. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday their testimony “corroborated evidence of bribery” by President Trump. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.), will lead this week’s public hearings, a decision many Republicans have denounced. Public hearings will continue next week. Read more: Subscribe to The Washington Post on YouTube:

While there, I enjoyed my stay at Stalkups RV and even managed to sell a few RV's to folks looking to live/enjoy the RV lifestyle! I will be continuing with them in internet sales through the fall and winter.
