Ross Beach, Co Mayo, Ireland
This sandy beach in a rural environment is located 5 km north of Killala town, Co Mayo. Ross strand is located along the shoreline of Killala Bay. Killala Bay is an extensive triangular estuary with mudflats lining the sides of the channel. The bay offers rich feeding for wildfowl and waders. An esker ridge close by is covered by hazel woodland. The ground flora here has an unusual degree of diversity. Lifeguards on duty, times posted on the information board.

New 300million USD Transatlantic Fibre Optic Cable laid into Ross strand near Killala, County Mayo
Aqua Comms Limited (AquaComms), a provider of scalable, subsea capacity-based network solutions has laid the first section of a new 300 million USD America Europe Connect Ltd. cable. Laid by Irish Lights vessel ILV Granuaile on the 16082015 into Ross beach in fine weather with Irish Sea Contractors. AEConnect will land in Shirley, New York, and Killala on the West Coast of Ireland, spanning more than 5,400 km and will use CeltixConnect, an Irish Sea subsea cable wholly owned by AquaComms, to provide extended connectivity to London and Europe
