Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island, formerly known as Ross Island, is an island of the Andaman Islands. It belongs to the South Andaman administrative district, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The island is situated 3 km east from central Port Blair. The historic ruins are a tourist attraction.
These roughly 300 islands are known for their palm-lined, white-sand beaches, mangroves and tropical rainforests. Coral reefs supporting marine life such as sharks and rays make for popular diving and snorkeling sites. Indigenous Andaman Islanders inhabit the more remote islands, many of which are off limits to visitors.

ROSS ISLAND was the establishment for Britishers during the time they ruled India. They built the cellular jail on Port Blair and themselves stayed on the Ross Island. The Light and Sound show at Ross Island is one of the best things to see in Andamans.

Arriving to Port Blair - Andaman Islands

First flight from Delhi via (funny flight stop) Kolkata to Port Blair.

In Port Blair, there is interesting short (20min) boat trip to Ross Island. Note that the last boat for this island depart at 2pm because at 4.30pm everyone has to get out of it.

From Phoenix Jetty in Port Blair at 11am the government boat leaves to Neil Island. It's two hours trip. Take some water and snack with you.

It costs ₹350 return to take a boat from Port Blair. They give you about 90 minutes on the island. It's best if you go first thing in the morning to avoid the crowds.
