Sligo is a beautiful, cultural and wonderful county. When the weather is sunny and hot it is simply magical! I was up at Rosses Point last week and captured a few clips and I share them with you. I hope you like them.
Rosses Point is a village in County Sligo, and also the name of the surrounding peninsula. The point guards Sligo Harbour and is marked by the Metal Man lighthouse.

I was standing on the stoney beach beside Rosses Point Harbour looking at Knocknarea where the Legendry High queen of Ireland, Queen Maebdbh (Maeve)is buried when this boat went by, I whipped out my point and shoot camera and videoed it sail by. I know it's not great quality but I thought it was worth sharing, enjoy and pay a visit.

Oyster Island Lighthouse at Rosses Point, The little lighthouse built in 1932 as a rear leading light to the Metal Man beacon to the north-west at the entrance to the strait between Oyster Island and Rosses Point. It is a prominent landmark of architectural and technical interest.

Metal Man Beacon Rosses Point, County Sligo Republic Of Ireland.
Metal Man Beacon Rosses Point, County Sligo Republic Of Ireland. .Probably the most unusual light in Ireland, the Metal Man was ushered into being after a number of wrecks on the Perch Rock near Oyster Island and Rosses Point. 12 feet tall and weighing seven tons, this naval petty officer was one of four cast by Thomas Kirke in 1819. A second one stands on a headland in Tramore county Waterford.
The Metal Man was originally earmarked for Blackrock Beacon further out to sea. Thankfully Perch Rock prevailed and the statue is easily seen from Rosses Point, often with a gull or two on his head.
These days he acts in conjunction with the light on Oyster Island to guide ships into Sligo Harbour. The light was added in 1908 and converted to propane gas in 1979. He has been depicted in many drawings by Jack Yeats and others.
