Bentleigh Sunday Market
The Bentleigh Sunday Market is run by volunteers from the Rotary Club of Bentleigh Moorabbin Central. Since 1977, all procedes raised have supported local charities and Rotary Projects such as Bushfire relief and the Haiti earthquake.

Each week thousands of keen bargin hunters happily donate 50 cents or more on their way into the market.
A great place to have your garage sale!
Located at the Bentleigh railway station car park, Bent Street, opposite Coles supermarket; the market is seconds away from the many fine Centre Road Bentleigh cafes and shops. The Sunday Market operates every Sunday of the year between the hours of 7am and 12 noon.

Bentleigh Sunday Market
The Bentleigh Sunday Market has been operating in the Bent Street car park since 1977!
Bentleigh Station will shut on 3 June to be demolished and a new station built. During this time the car park and Market will be closed.
So make sure you get down to the Bentleigh Market over the next four Sundays in May to grab yourself a bargain and support your local Rotary Club :)
The Market will be back in full swing from Sunday 4 September after the new Bentleigh Station opens.
Camberwell - I Love it!
Jack Wegman introduces the Camberwell that he loves, the markets, the Junction and the community garden. Camberwell has some special treasures that are unique:
• a plethora of family owned cafes and restaurants each of which have their own unique cuisine and atmosphere, and loyal staff and clientele
• the Camberwell fresh food market where flowers, fruit and vegetables, cheeses, meat and fish are sold fresh from local suppliers and not pre-packaged in a foreign country. The family traders have been trading at the market for decades and know their produce and its origins and are only too willing to share tips and recipes on the best way to keep it, prepare and cook it.
• the Camberwell Rotary Sunday market has become like family – a community within a community, which rejoices in sustainable choices of reuse. This is where treasures from the past keep on giving as they are traded and re-traded and taken home by temporary adoptive owners. The traders and their clientele are an eclectic mix which bring colour and joy to the market experience.
It is this Camberwell that I want to show in these images - the old treasured traditional Camberwell juxtaposed against the new vibrant internationally influenced Camberwell that is becoming the future.
Bentleigh Sunday Market 2013
Here is a short video put together for the Bentleigh Sunday Market by Volare Photography. It is a great little market run by volunteers of the local Rotary Club and has been operating since 1977. A few weeks ago we set up a marquee and took photos of children to help promote the market's inaugural 'Baby' day. If you live locally I definitely would recommend a visit. It's a great way to spend a Sunday morning especially if you combine it with breakfast and coffee at one of the local cafes. Enjoy — at Bentleigh Sunday Market.

Garden DesignFest 2016
By Diane Beddison
Garden DesignFest was started in 2004 and 2016 will be the seventh event.
This event showcased over 30 spectacular gardens featuring the work of some of Victoria’s most acclaimed garden designers and I am very proud to have been chosen as a designer and to be able to showcase my own garden in the 2016 event.
It was held over two full weekends with Melbourne and the Peninsula on the first weekend on 12-13 November 2016 and a fantastic selection of regional rural gardens on the second weekend on 19-20 November 2016.
All gardens in Garden DesignFest had the designers and their staff on hand at their respective gardens to chat to the public. You were be able to discuss your design needs and obtain all the relevant information needed to create or improve your own garden.
The Rotary Clubs of Kew, Brighton North and Central Melbourne are the proud organisers of Garden DesignFest 2016. Their aim is to firstly raise much needed money for selected charities, and secondly to encourage creative, bold, innovative, versatile, practical, and responsible gardening in our Australian gardens.

David Taylor is a world-renowned watercolour artist, well known for teaching and services to the arts.
Born in Melbourne Australia in 1941, David’s early career began in etching and a 6-year apprenticeship at the north Melbourne Printing School of Graphic Arts to colour etching assisted in his future career as an artist. Many hand skills were learned such as hand engraving, lino and woodcutting, as well as etching with zinc, copper and magnesium, later etching on film in lithography.
Since the sixties David has been expanding his own painting career in watercolour, using all that he has learned to teach painters both in Australia and overseas. David is also involved in regular tutorials for the Australian and International Artist magazine.
Numerous achievements include over one hundred awards in watercolour, including the Herald Sun Best Of Show Gold Medal Award at The Camberwell Rotary Exhibition 2002, a silver medal in 1976, and Silver Award in 2007. David won the prestigious Victorian Artists Society Artist Of The Year Award in 1976, 1980 and again in 1989. That same year, David received the Distinguished Leadership Award for outstanding services to watercolour and teaching from the International Directory of Distinguished Leadership and a certificate of merit for distinguished service to the community.
David’s works are regularly represented in numerous public and private collections worldwide, with regular exhibitions happening in several Australian states, England, the Channel Islands and Stockholm. He has held regular one-man exhibitions of his work since 1975. In each exhibition David expresses his joy of working freely on location and his love of spontaneity, shape, light and colour.
David comments that, ‘as we journey through life there are changes to our lives and to the world we live in. My passion to express myself through my painting remains constant, the experiences are often challenging, moving and uplifting. Capturing the essence of the subject as a fleeting moment in time requires speed of hand to achieve the spontaneity I like to record… the light in its many guises and drama of fleeting impressions are important factors when I am viewing this special world that is ours to be a part of. In a personal way, I am writing my diary through my work which endeavors to express my interests, my experiences and the place I find myself connected to at any given time.’
