KVH Svoboda is non-profit, non-political, voluntary and cultural-social civil association of Czechoslovak military history advocates.
We regularly organize various cultural and social events focused on Czechoslovak military history of the 20th century. We collect various historical artifacts for their presentation and exhibitions. We actively meet with veterans from battles and rememberers of various historical events, trying to keep our oral and written history preserved for the future. We engage in research and publishing activities, focusing primarily on the unknown and forgotten fates of Eastern Slovakia and Carpathian Ruthenia.
We collaborate on various historical projects to preserve the cultural heritage, history and legacy of our ancestors. We believe that by remembering and not ignoring the important and often very difficult events from our shared history and by safeguarding the heritage of our war veterans, we can help prevent the tragedies of the past from ever repeating.
One of our main goals is to gather, collect and evaluate various materials about military operations in Slovakia during World War II with the emphasis on combat actions of the 1st Czechoslovak Army Corps in the USSR (1. Československý armádny zbor v ZSSR), 1st Czechoslovak Army in Slovakia (1. Československá armáda na Slovensku), the Slovak Army, the Red Army and other armies fighting in the territory of Slovakia, as well as the Czechoslovak People's Army, the National Security Corps, the People's Militia and other armed forces in the territory of Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Castle Jezeri Czech Republic
There used to be a medieval castle in place of the present day chateau, but its founding date is unknown. The first written record of it is from 1363-65 and states that the castle was owned by masters of Rvenice. Even then we encounter the names “de Lacu” (of the Lake; z Jezera) as well as “of Aysemberg”, also reflected in the old German name Eisenberg, logically connected to ore mining in this part of Krušné hory.
Bušek of Eisenberg sold the castle in 1406 to Petr of Perč; the next owner of the property was Albrecht Sn. of Kolowrat. After his death Jezeří was passed on to Jan Smolík of Slavice, a catholic supporter who managed to hold the estate throughout Hussite wars. He left the castle to his son Zikmund, who was known for his dislike of Saxons. Owing to this fact there were frequent skirmishes between Jezeří and the Saxon troops at the nearby castle of Hněvín.
The next owner of the castle, the knight Kunz of Kaufunk (1450), also stood for the interest of the Czech kingdom, although his family came from Saxony. The reason for his attitude, however, was animosity between the Kaufunk family and the prince elector Friedrich of Saxony. The conflict escalated in 1455 when Kunz abducted the elector’s sons from the castle of Altenburg to force Friedrich to give back the Fictum estates he had confiscated from him. Jezeří was supposed to become the place where prince Arnošt was held, but this intention could not be fulfilled. Kunz of Kaufunk and his men were caught on the Saxon side and Kunz was executed at Freiberg in 1455. Worried about the fate of Kunz’s sons Kunz and Heinrich, the bailiff Jiří of Poděbrady took possession of the castle and made use of the presence of his troops at Jezeří to capture the town of Most.
In 1459 the Smolík family returned to Jezeří and the last one of them, Zikmund, bequeathed the castle to his brother-in-law, Mikuláš Hochhauser of Hochhaus, in 1513. It was probably then that the castle was rebuilt into a renaissance chateau
