【4K】Sunday Machida walk
Not a vlog, no intrusive faces or talking, pure Japan only.
One of viewers asked sometime ago about Machida walk. I was passing nearby and decided to walk there. I walked from JR station through shopping streets, found two cats, several small parks and one big. One mistake was forgetting coins, it was hot but I could not buy any drinks.

Machida Station arrives from Shinjuku Station by Odakyu Line in about an hour.
It is not a crowded feeling town such as Shinjuku and Ikebukuro because it is a bit far from the center of Tokyo.

Machida Station (町田駅 Machida-eki) is an interchange railway station in Machida, Tokyo, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East)and Odakyu Electric Railway.
Lines
Machida Station is served by the Yokohama Line from Hachiōji to Higashi-Kanagawa. The station is also served by the Odakyu Odawara Line from Shinjuku to Odawara.
Station layout
JR East Machida Station has two island platforms serving four tracks, with the station building located above and perpendicular to the platforms, and has a Midori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office.Odakyu Machida Station also has two elevated island platforms serving four tracks, while located inside a station building containing a supermarket and department store.
History
The JR East station first opened as Haramachida Station (原町田駅) on September 23, 1908[2].The Odakyu station opened on 1 April 1927 as Shin-Haramachida Station (新原町田駅), which was renamed Machida Station on 11 April 1976, and the current station building and Odakyu Department Store opened on 23 September 1976. The JR station was moved 0.4 km towards Hachiōji and also renamed to Machida on April 1, 1980 to reduce the walking distance between it and the Odakyu station from 700 m to 300 m, to facilitate interchange.

The Reopening of Minami Machida Grandberry Park Mall in Tokyo
In 2017, the Grandberry Outlet Mall closed for major renovations and no one really knew any details about when or if it would reopen. It was a popular suburban outlet mall which I used to go to primarily for the Outback Steakhouse. It was also dog-friendly so Sinbad and I would often go there to stroll around and window shop.
On November 13, 2019, Minami Machida Grandberry Park finally reopened. The Minami Machida Station on the Tokyu Denentoshi Line was renamed to the Minami Machida Grandberry Park Station and it also became a designated stop on the express trains. The original shopping mall underwent major renovations and is now bigger and even better than the original outlet mall. In addition to a wide variety of shops and restaurants, there is also a massive park perfect for families to enjoy with their children and/or pets. Next month, the Snoopy Museum will open. This video was filmed only 5 days after the grand opening so the mall was still very crowded. It was also quite windy. I definitely plan to return and film again, but for now, please enjoy this quick peek of the new and improved Grandberry Park shopping center.

説明Eisa is Okinawa's traditional dance that uses native drums. It is performed throughout the year, but it is especially common in the summer. Okinawan culture has been getting popular around the country, and there are many Eisa fans in Japan. It is now one of the most famous Japanese sub-cultures. We have created and practiced today's dance solely for today's performance.
Today's dance includes some elements of karate and boujutsu, Okinawa's another traditional dance culture. If you can, we will appreciate handclaps. Here we go!

Machida Walk - Exploring the outskirts of Tokyo - 2019 - 4K 60 FPS (Slow TV)
Machida (町田市 Machida-shi) is a city that belongs to Tokyo but that is located quite far to the south-west of the main parts of the city, about 30 minutes by train from Shinjuku.
The area is very lively and as you can see in this video, there are plenty of shopping and entertainment facilities in the area around the station.
In this video, I start at the Odakyu side of Machida Station and take a stroll around some of the main shopping streets before crossing the train tracks and venture into some more quiet parts of the city.
I hope to return and shoot here at night sometime, as the area is very scenic and colorful once all the lights are switched on. Unfortunately, it takes me a really long time to get there, so I'm not sure when I'll be able to visit again...

Lyoto Machida vs Kengo Watanabe
Lyoto Machida in his MMA debut. The fight was held at NJPW - Ultimate Crush. Unfortunately the 2nd round is missing and is nowhere to be found.
The man in the suit is Antonio Inoki - legendary pro wrestler, Japanese MMA pioneer and Lyoto's former promoter. The punch that he does after the fight is the Toukon Fighting spirit slap - it's supposed to bring good luck.
The Toukon Fighting spirit slap came about when Inoki was visiting a school. Some random kid punched Inoki twice, and he responded with a slap that knocked the kid down. The kid got up, bowed deeply, and thanked him for the slap. It was all over the TV in japan. After that celebrities and everyday people ask Inoki for the slap to give them courage or a blessing.

Machida Squirrel Garden (町田リス園) also has a large tortoise, some rabbits, birds, guinea pigs, and other small animals. You can buy small bags of sunflower seeds to feed the squirrels, but once they see the glove or mitten with the food, you are fair game and they have no problem climbing up you for some treats. Remember that they do have claws, plus teeth that can cut through a walnut shell, so be sure to wear the protective gear.
It would be better to wear a long-sleeve shirt, and If you are a lady, it would probably be a good idea not to wear a skirt.
The Machida Risuen is open from 10 AM to 4 PM (5 PM on Sundays & holidays Apr-Sep), closed on Tuesdays (except national holidays, then the following business day) as well as the 1st week in June, September & December on Tue-Fri. Also closed for New Year's on Dec 27th-Jan 2nd.
Entrance fee is ¥400. Sunflower seed bags are ¥100 each.
