Routeburn Track: Alpine Tramping (Hiking) Series | New Zealand
The Routeburn Track is a popular 33km tramp (hike) over the main divide, which takes approximately three days to complete. The alpine section of this ‘Great Walk’ will take the entirety of your second day and runs for approximately 10km. In this video we will look at the track as if we were starting from the Glenorchy side, but the tramp can be attempted in any direction. Use this video as part of your planning so you have a successful adventure and make it home safely.

NZ South Island - The Routeburn Track in one day !
In march we decided to do the Routeburn Track. But we only had one day available all together. So we did it in one day. All the way from the car park to Lake McKenzie viewpoint and back. We even did Conical Hill ! 40km in 12½ hours.
Once again we were lucky with the weather ????

Hiking the Routeburn Track, New Zealand - Day 1
Trekking this classic New Zealand Great Walk, the Routeburn Track, over a period of three days and camping rather than staying in the huts. We had gorgeous weather setting out after a taxi ride from our local lodgings in Glenorchy. Quintessential southern hemisphere alpine conditions on the walk up. A bit busy for our usual preferred tracks, but still special.
PRICEY HUTS AND MAGNIFICENT VIEWS // Days 1-2 of Routeburn track, New Zealand
On the 5th day on our hike we started the famous Routeburn track, one of the Great Walks of New Zealand. But before heading out to the trail itself we did a little day-hike to Key Summit and it was totally worth it. Watch the video to see the magnificent views and also the huts we had to stay in regardless of the high price.

It’s our first day in Queenstown and today we are doing a guided walk of the Routeburn Track with Guided Walks New Zealand!
We are picked up from our Queenstown accommodation at Nomads Hostel and hit the road to the Routeburn Track in the Mt Aspiring National Park and Fiordland National Park, part of a New Zealand UNESCO World Heritage Area.
Once on the Routeburn Track we realise that this walk is going to be a lot different from other walks we have done by ourselves. Our guides are incredible knowledgable teaching us loads about the native forest in New Zealand. We feel like we are no longer walking blind through the forest.
The Routeburn track is a multi-day New Zealand Great Walk, however, we are just doing a day of that walk today to get a taste of this Routeburn Great Walk.
Halfway on the walk we stop for the most scenic lunch of our lives in the midst of the Routeburn Valley before making our way back, seeing loads of New Zealand birds on the way back. The New Zealand wildlife on the Routeburn Track is amazing and our guides tell us exactly what we are seeing.

Routeburn Track Hike to Routeburn Falls, New Zealand
Day hike from Routeburn shelter to Routeburn Falls, trailhead near Glenorchy, south island New Zealand. The Routeburn Track is one of the popular NZ Great Walks. It's a 38km alpine crossing and usually takes 3 days to complete staying at backcountry huts.

Routeburn Track New Zealand in a day
What started out as a crazy idea, soon turned into an epic experience. Completing the Routeburn Track usually takes most people 2-3 days, however a group of us from the Christchurch Tramping Club decided to hike it in one day. Situated in the Mt Aspiring and Fiordland National Parks, the Routeburn Track is one of New Zealand's 'Great Walks.' With beautiful mountains, lakes and waterfalls scattered along its 33km/20.5mi track, it's easy to see why so many people complete this walk, regardless of how long it takes them. The total height gain was over 1000m/3300ft and is a very well-maintained and scenic track. I hope you enjoy my epic journey through this short and cinematic video.

Queenstown & the Routeburn Track New Zealand
During my New Zealand travels I spent several days in the Queenstown/Glenorchy area from Nov 27th-Nov 29th 2014. Including visiting Queenstown, some photography along the Dart and Reese rivers and a one day along 2/3 of the Routeburn Track from the Routeburn Shelter to the MacKenzie Lake overlook and back (34km).
Routeburn Track and Milford Sound
In the summer of 2011, from January 7th to 9th, we walked the Routeburn Track, one of New Zealand's Great Walks.
40 kms of tramping through pristine beech forest and Alpine tussock from the Routeburn Shelter, via the Routeburn Flats and Falls over the Harris Saddle to Conical Hill. Back down via the Mackenzie and Howden lakes and huts.
After 3 days of walking through the Mt. Aspiring and Fiordland National Parks in the Southern Alps, a bus took us from The Divide to The Milford Sound.
It was the highlight of a month long visit to New Zealand.
Routeburn Track, Great Walk 7 of 9 - Living a Kiwi Life - Ep. 30
New Zealand's Routeburn Track definitely earns its Great Walk classification. This tramp straddles Mt Aspiring National Park and Fiordland National Park. We did this trek over 3 days and had amazing weather on the second day when we climbed Conical Hill (2:03) for a panoramic view. We swam in Lake MacKenzie, which was freezing, but felt great after a long second day. Don't miss this tramp, it's experiences like this that make us love New Zealand! We were also lucky enough to complete this track with my parents, a very special experience, they rocked it at age 60!

Hiking the Routeburn Track, New Zealand - Day 2
Trekking this classic New Zealand Great Walk, the Routeburn Track, over a period of three days and camping rather than staying in the huts. We had an unusual Routeburn Track experience in that we were hiking it in early season and there had been heavy snowfall over winter. So much so, NZ DOC decided to lay on some helicopters (for a small fee) to lift us over the snow covered Harris Saddle, rather than delay the opening of the track for a few weeks more.
