Rowley Alberta Tour of a Ghost Town 2017
Rowley is a ghost town open to tours and located east and within an hour of Olds.
Rowley, Alberta Ghost Town of Canada
Rowley is an easy access, rural ghost town north of Drumheller, Alberta, Canada.
Rowley was a most active community in the 1910 through 1920 period. The Great Depression left no town untouched. Population peaked around 500 people in the 1920's and gradually declined to non-sustainable by the mid 1970's.
When the final passenger train passed through Rowley in 1999, income from tourist passengers ended and the picturesque town dwindled from a population of about 500 in the 1920's to the approximately 8 current residents with nearly all buildings vacated and in an advanced state of decay.
When the last passenger train pulled through here in 1999 the town's economic fate was determined by cessation of passenger traffic.
Local residents decided to fix up the the old town site as a tourist attraction. This initiative attracted a successful Canadian movie production as the background for several movies including 'Bye Bye Blues'.

GHOST TOWN VIDEO TOUR: NEMISCAM, ALBERTA | Urbex | Abandoned Places | Gravel Travel
Nemiscam is a Southern Alberta Ghost Town, originally known as Bingham and then changing to Nemiskam (meaning between two valleys). Located near Foremost and Etzikom on Hwy 61, the town peaked at a population of 54 residents in the 1960's, with now only a few buildings left, not including the four grain elevators which were demolished in the early 1990's. The current spelling of the town's name uses a 'C' in place of the original 'K', as is reflected on the gates of the town's sparsely populated grave-site.

Ghost towns of Alberta part 1 with ghost captured in window
There are many little towns in Alberta which seen better times long ago in the past. You will find many of them driving along the secondary highways. If you stop long enough and talk to the people who still live there, the oldtimers will tell some interesting stories. You might even be able to capture a picture of a ghost looking back at you. If you pay close attention in the 5th picture with the windows, there was nothing in the building and you could see right thru both windows. It looks like a figure of something? is looking back at you. There was nothing there when we were taking photo's.

Playing in a ghost town can be fun.
Abandoned Cemetery at Wayne, Alberta
We are back in the badlands of Alberta for another pizza night in the ghost town of Rowley. However, before we eat we need to burn off some calories and that means a hike up to the abandoned pioneer cemetery of Wayne. Maybe a stop at the Last Chance Saloon is in order along with some drone footage of the Rowley elevators? You never know!
As always, thanks for coming along for the ride!
