The ruins of the most important castle on the Border in its day.
Walking through the atmospheric remains of the southern stronghold of the Scottish kings, still worth the climb in order to storm the defences and have a look inside.

Kelso is a market town in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. Within the boundaries of the historic county of Roxburghshire, Kelso lies where the rivers Tweed and Teviot have their confluence.
Kelso's main tourist draws are the ruined Kelso Abbey and Floors Castle, a William Adam designed house completed in 1726. The Kelso Bridge was designed by John Rennie who later built London Bridge.
The town of Kelso came into being as a direct result of the creation of Kelso Abbey in 1128. The town's name stems from the fact that the earliest settlement stood on a chalky outcrop, and the town was known as Calkou (or perhaps Calchfynydd) in those early days, something that is remembered in the modern street name, Chalkheugh Terrace.
Standing on the opposite bank of the River Tweed from the now-vanished royal burgh of Roxburgh, Kelso and its sister hamlet of Wester Kelso were linked to the burgh by a ferry at Wester Kelso. A small hamlet existed before the completion of the abbey in 1128 but the settlement started to flourish with the arrival of the monks. Many were skilled craftsmen, and they helped the local population as the village expanded. The abbey controlled much of life in Kelso-area burgh of barony, called Holydean, until the Reformation in the 16th century. After that, the power and wealth of the abbey declined. The Kerr family of Cessford took over the barony and many of the abbey's properties around the town. By the 17th century, they virtually owned Kelso.
Floors Castle is a large stately home just outside Kelso. It is a popular visitor attraction. Adjacent to the house there is a large walled garden with a cafe, a small garden centre and the Star Plantation.

Guy 10th Duke of Roxburghe Floors Castle Kelso Scotland - Withers Law Firm Criminal Prosecution Case
SIR THOMAS SCHOLAR HM TREASURY - OFCOM DSMA-NOTICE NEWS BLACKOUT:
MAINSTREAM NEWS MEDIA EXTRACTS: I
The Carroll Foundation Trust and parallel Gerald 6th Duke of Sutherland Trust multi-billion dollar corporate identity theft case which is threatening the political existence of senior members of the Conservative Party has revealed that the FBI Scotland Yard criminal “standard of proof” prosecution files have named the Smith & Williamson accountancy investment management firm in this case of international importance.
Sources have confirmed that the dossiers contain compelling evidential material which surrounds the Smith & Williamson fraudulent accounting operation “targeted” at the Gerald Carroll Trusts worldwide interests. It has emerged that Smith & Williamson was “appointed” by the Carroll Foundation Trust board of trustees immediately prior to the commencement of the systematic embezzlement and fraudulent liquidation of major operating divisions of the Carroll Global Corporation Trust industrial empire spanning the globe.
Further sources have revealed that the files contain a forensic evidential paper trail concerning the David Cameron family “estate links” with Smith & Williamson through the Cameron family offshore tax haven based investment vehicles Blairmore Holdings Inc interests Blairmore Asset Management Ltd a clutch of Church of England charities and family trusts whose funds are also managed by Smith & Williamson.
In a stunning twist it has emerged that Sir Tony Baldry a criminal barrister and a senior figure in the Church of England is implicated in the Gerald Carroll Trusts debacle which is fueling speculation in Westminster that this City of London bank fraud case could threaten personally David Cameron in what well seasoned political observers regard as the largest ever society scandal embroiling the British Royal Family.
The Blairmore legacy that David Cameron’s father Ian Cameron left is unlike that of his forebears — it’s not in the rolling hills of Scotland but in glass and steal office blocks in Panama City Geneva the Cayman Islands Gibraltar Jersey and Nassau Bahamas — all tax havens which are “central actors” in the Carroll Foundation Trust and parallel Gerald 6th Duke of Sutherland Trust case.
MAINSTREAM NEWS MEDIA EXTRACTS: II
The Carroll Foundation Trust and parallel Gerald 6th Duke of Sutherland Trust multi-billion dollar corporate identity theft case has disclosed that the City of London law firm Slaughter & May former partner Lucy Wylde until quite recently was based at HM Treasury in the capacity as General Counsel reporting to the First Treasury Counsel Sir James Eadie QC during what is known to have been yet another bungled attempt to shield herself from criminal prosecution in this case of international importance.
Scotland Yard leaked sources have disclosed that the prosecution files have explicitly “named” the Slaughter & May former partner Lucy Wylde as Gerald Carroll’s personal legal advisor and consequently is universally regarded as a “central actor” in the co-ordinated break-up and fraudulent liquidation of major operating divisions of the Carroll Global Corporation Trust industrial empire spanning three continents.
It has emerged that the Conservative Campaign Headquarters former director the late Sir Anthony Garner “in parallel” was a Carroll Global Corporation Trust non-executive director “centered around” the Carroll Anglo-American Corporation Trust conglomerate the HM Ministry of Defence Farnborough Aerospace Development Corporation Trust group of companies and the world renowned Carroll Institute Trust “sponsored” Carroll Chair of Irish History attached to Hertford College Oxford University.
UK Companies House leaked sources have said that Slaughter & May fraudulently incorporated a bewildering array of twenty eight forged and falsified “name-switch dummy” Carroll Trust Corporations which were effectively utilised as a corporate diversionary smokescreen for the embezzlement of a staggering two hundred and fifty million dollars of Gerald Carroll;s huge treasury investment holdings.
In a stunning twist the media reports on the case have revealed that Scotland Yard continues to retain the “closely connected” Kent Police Service charge sheet files which surround Gerald Carroll’s multi-million dollar Eaton Square Belgravia penthouse and Westminster residences in central London.
It is understood that the dossiers contain a shocking forensic evidential paper trail surrounding the systematic break-ins burglaries and seizures of a further five hundred and seventy five million dollars of the Carroll Global Corporation Trust global investment holdings.
The Carroll Foundation Trust files are held within a complete lockdown at Scotland Yard London under the supervision of the Commissioner Cressida Dick QPM who is known to have an intimate knowledge of this case which stretches the globe.

FLOORS CASTLE
Floors Castle, on the western outskirts of Kelso, south-east Scotland, is the seat of the Duke of Roxburghe. Despite its name it is a country house rather than a fortress. It was built in the 1720s by the architect William Adam for the 1st Duke, possibly incorporating an earlier tower house. In the 19th century it was embellished with turrets and battlements by William Playfair for the 6th Duke. Floors has the common 18th-century layout of a main block with two symmetrical service wings. Floors Castle lies on the River Tweed and overlooks the Cheviot Hills.
The name is thought to come either from flowers (or the French fleurs), or from the floors, or terraces, on which the castle is built.

Kelso, Scottish Borders
A very pleasant and elegant town which was remodelled in the 18th century. As will be seen from the video,, the centre is mainly comprised of a wide cobbled square. Close by are the ruins of Kelso Abbey which was destroyed by the English in 1545. The town sits on the banks of the River Tweed along which it is possible to sit or have a gentle stroll.
About 1 mile from Kelso is the stunning Floors Castle, home to the Duke of Roxburgh and the largest inhabited house in Scotland.

Floors Castle was never a castle as such, but a comfortable country house built in the 1720s. It was in the 19th century that all the battlements and turrets were added for the 6th Duke of Roxburghe.
