Mall Development
There was considerable controversy in Owen Sound in the early 1980's when it was proposed that a shopping mall be built in the community. People feared it would be the death of the downtown--similar fears were expressed when WalMart came to Owen Sound two decades later. This news story is from 1982...it took until 1987 for the mall to open.
