The Museum's aim is to preserve an important part of Britain's national aviation heritage and to display it for future generations. At Cosford we have collections of artefacts unique in the world.
The War Plane Collection includes British, German, American, Japanese and Argentinian aircraft, all with an important place in the development of military aviation.
Cosford's Missile Collection includes unique, early German experimental missiles. The collection charts the history of this type of weapon from early concrete and wooden examples to today's state-of-the-art technology.
The Transport & Training Aircraft Collection is home to Royal Air Force transport aircraft, which relate the fascinating story of passenger and freight-carrying by air.
The jewel in the Museum's inventory is undoubtedly the Research & Development Aircraft Collection featuring some of the World's most exotic aircraft.
There are over fifty Aero Engines on display here too, and a small Vehicle Collection relating to aviation history.

PANAVIA TORNADO RC STRIKE AIRCRAFT DISPLAY AT LMA RAF COSFORD - 2018
NO THE WINGS DO NOT SWING ON THIS MODEL !
INFO ON REAL AIRCRAFT -
Variants: Panavia Tornado ADV
First flight: 14 August 1974
Number built: 992
Manufacturer: Panavia Aircraft GmbH
Role: Multirole aircraft, strike aircraft
Introduction: 1979
Primary users: Royal Air Force; Italian Air Force; German Air Force; Royal Saudi Air Force,
The Panavia Tornado is a family of twin-engine, variable-sweep wing multirole combat aircraft, which was jointly developed and manufactured by Italy, the United Kingdom, and West Germany. There are three primary Tornado variants: the Tornado IDS (interdictor/strike) fighter-bomber, the suppression of enemy air defences Tornado ECR (electronic combat/reconnaissance) and the Tornado ADV (air defence variant) interceptor aircraft.
The contract for the Batch 1 aircraft was signed on 29 July 1976. The first aircraft were delivered to the RAF and German Air Force on 5 and 6 June 1979 respectively. The first Italian Tornado was delivered on 25 September 1981. On 29 January 1981, the Tri-national Tornado Training Establishment (TTTE) officially opened at RAF Cottesmore, remaining active in training pilots from all operating nations until 31 March 1999. The 500th Tornado to be produced was delivered to West Germany on 19 December 1987.
Production came to an end in 1998; the last batch of aircraft being produced going to the Royal Saudi Air Force, who had ordered a total of 96 IDS Tornados. In June 2011, it was announced that the RAF's Tornado fleet had flown collectively over one million flying hours. Aviation author John Lake noted that: The Trinational Panavia Consortium produced just short of 1,000 Tornados, making it one of the most successful post war bomber programs. In 2008, AirForces Monthly said of the Tornado: For more than a quarter of a century... the most important military aircraft in Western Europe.

GLOSTER JAVELIN T-TAILED DELTA WING RC ALL WEATHER INTERCEPTOR - LMA RAF COSFORD - 2018
STEVE SENT THIS INFO OVER ON THE MODEL -
The model was built by Keith Richardson over the space of about 3 years. Its built to the RCMW plans and features fully working Speed Brakes, Flaps, wheel brakes and even a fully trimming Tailplane.
Its powered by a Kingtech 140 and weighs about 40lbs. Futaba 14SZ radio. Its all built up (balsa and ply) and covered in glass cloth with a water based urethane instead of epoxy.
It flies superbly and is a total credit to its builder...incidentally...this was his first ever scale build!!!
The retracts were all homemade..brakes, etc the lot!!
shes about 1/6th scale (I think) and its based on No 5 Squadron, RAF Laarbruch, Germany.
Oh yes...its 90” span and about 100” long.
INFO ON THE REAL AIRCRAFT -
Length: 17 m
Introduced: 29 February 1956
Retired: April 1968
Engine type: Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire
First flight: 26 November 1951
Number built: 436
Manufacturer: Gloster Aircraft Company,
The Gloster Javelin is a twin-engined T-tailed delta-wing subsonic night and all-weather interceptor aircraft that served with Britain's Royal Air Force from the mid-1950s until the late 1960s. The last aircraft design to bear the Gloster name,
it was introduced in 1956 after a lengthy development period and received several upgrades during its lifetime to its engines, radar and weapons, including support for the De Havilland Firestreak air-to-air missile.
The Javelin was succeeded in the interceptor role by the English Electric Lightning, a supersonic aircraft capable of flying at more than double the Javelin's top speed, which was introduced into the RAF only a few years later.
The Javelin served for much of its life alongside the Lightning; the last Javelins were withdrawn from operational service in 1968 following the introduction of successively more capable versions of the Lightning.
The closest that the RAF's Javelins came to combat, was during the Malaysian Confrontation with Indonesia from September 1963 until August 1966. Javelins of 60 Squadron, later joined by 64 Squadron operated out of RAF Tengah, Singapore flying combat patrols over the jungles of Malaysia.
In 1964, an Indonesian Air Force Lockheed C-130 Hercules crashed while trying to evade interception by a Javelin FAW.9 of 60 Squadron. During June 1967, following the disbandment of 64 Squadron, 60 Squadron was deployed to RAF Kai Tak, Hong Kong because of unrest in the colony during China's Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution.
Javelins were also deployed to Zambia during the early stages of Rhodesia's Unilateral Declaration of Independence, to protect Zambia from any action by the Rhodesian Air Force.
The last of the type was withdrawn from service in 1968, with the disbandment of 60 Squadron at RAF Tengah at the end of April 1968.
One aircraft remained flying with the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment at Boscombe Down until 24 January 1975.
