An introduction to the Royal Armoury in Stockholm
The Royal Armoury is the oldest museum in Sweden, established in 1628 by King Gustav II Adolph when he decided that his clothes from his campaign in Poland should be preserved.
Located in the cellars of the Royal Palace in Stockholm, the Swedish Royal Armoury shows the history of Sweden's kings and queens from Gustav Vasa (1496-1560) until to day through arms and armours, robes from royal weddings and coronations in addition to several exquisite state coaches from the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Royal Armoury also houses historic items like the blood-stained shirts which Gustav II Adolph was wearing when he was killed in the battle at Lützen in 1632 during the Thirty Years' War. Another highly interesting item on display is the costume used by Gustav III when he was assassinated at the Royal Opera in in Stockholm in 1792 during a masqued ball. You can also see the uniform worn by Karl XII (1682-1718) when he was killed in the trenches at Fredriksten, (Norway) in 1718.

Visiting the Royal Castle in Stockholm - Sweden 4K Travel Channel
The Stockholm Palace is in the center of Stockholm, not far from the Old Town Gamla Stan on the island of Stadsholmen. The Palace, also called the Royal Palace, was built on the foundation walls of the Tre Kronor Palace, which burnt down in 1697. It is one of the largest castles in Europe and has 605 rooms, one room more than the Buckingham Palace. But who has already counted them?
The Stockholm Palace now houses the offices of the King and other members of the Royal House. As the official residence, it is also used for representation purposes.
The former living rooms are mainly publicly accessible as a museum. The castle also houses the Tre Kronor Museum, the Royal Armory and Gustav III's Museum of Antiquities. There is also the treasury, but unfortunately filming is strictly forbidden (why actually?).
The Royal Apartments (castle museum)
After we have inspected the central inner courtyard, we enter the main building. Via a staircase, we reach the throne and coronation hall. A highlight of our tour is the gallery of Karl XI. The hall of mirrors is used for banquets of up to 170 guests. The inspiration for this hall was by its namesake, the hall of mirrors in the Versailles Palace.
One floor down is a series of rooms, used for representation purposes. There is also a collection of clocks with models from all epochs. Interesting is a model of the clock tower of Mecca, a gift to the king on a visit to Saudi Arabia 2011.
The Tre Kronor Museum
This museum is dedicated to the original Tre Kronor Palace. The name Tre Kronor goes back to the realm symbol, the three crowns. They once crowned the castle, which was destroyed by a heavy fire in 1697. The entrance of the Tre Kronor Museum is in the basement of the palace.
You see various models of the old castle and a part of the original foundation wall here. Next to the Tre Kronor Museum is the Treasury
Gustav III's Museum of Antiquities

Photogrammetry at The Royal Armoury - Introduction to 3D & cultural heritage (Eng subs)
The Royal Armoury Museum in Stockholm, Sweden, ran a project during 2016 together with the Swedish Exhibition Agency for the purpose of evaluating photogrammetry as a potential way of making the collections more accessible. During the project this film was produced in hope to help others interested in the technique.

Visit Stockholm: the Royal Palace | Sweden Travel Vlog
With more than 600 rooms, it is one of the world’s largest inhabited palace. In this palace, visitors can tour a lot of its rooms and museums, all included in the Stockholm Pass! During my visit, I only manage to check out Gustav III’s Antikmuseum and the Royal Apartment due to time-restrain. I highly recommend visiting the Royal Armory.

Artist David Beck at the Royal Armoury
David Beck (1621--1656), was a Dutch Golden Age portrait painter.
In 1647, he was appointed portrait painter and valet de chambre to Queen Christina of Sweden in Stockholm, and he executed portraits of most of the sovereigns of Europe to adorn her gallery.
A selection of his paintings is exhibited in the Royal Armoury in Stockholm. The Royal Armoury is a part of the Google Art Project:
