The Royal Military Canal is a canal running for 28 miles (45 km) between Seabrook near Folkestone and Cliff End near Hastings, following the old cliff line bordering Romney Marsh, which was constructed as a defence against the possible invasion of England during the Napoleonic Wars.
What Is This? Secret Tunnel? Hythe Kent Military Canal
Does anyone know what this was for? I spotted a strange brick entrance along the bank of the Royal Military Canal, Hythe, Kent, UK. I've been told that it might have been the entrance to a tunnel that went under the Military Road and stretched as far as where the Sainsbury's store is now. It's possible that it might have been something to do with the old Small Arms School and/or Mackeson's brewery. Please comment if you know anything, thank you!

A tradition of floating tableaux dating back to the 1890s which includes an evening of floating extravaganza with a procession of decorated floats, live music, entertainment and fireworks at dusk, followed by a procession of the floats being illuminated after dark.

Rye to Cliff End Circular Walk
I took a walk from the Town of Rye, Kent (GB) to Cliff End Village along the East Sussex coast, returning along the royal military canal and inland towards Rye again. On the way I passed Camber Castle and a number of WW2 sites, along with some beautiful scenery despite the damp weather. Soundtrack is Johnny Flynn, 'the Wrote and the Writ' from album 'A Larum.'
