The Royal Navy Submarine Museum at Gosport is a museum tracing the international history of submarine development from the age of Alexander the Great to the present day, and particularly the history of the Submarine Service from the tiny Holland 1 to the nuclear powered Vanguard class submarine. The museum's collection began life as the Submarine Branch Collection. and opened in 1963. In 1983 the museum gained a new display building and members of the public were allowed into HMS Alliance. In 2001 the museum opened a climate controlled building that houses Holland 1

Motovlogging History: The Historic Dockyard of Portsmouth - The Royal Navy's Submarine Museum
I recently purchased an annual pass for the Historic Dockyard of Portsmouth and in this visit, I rode my Moto Guzzi V7 down to the Royal Navy's Submarine Museum over the other side of the river in Gosport. I went the pretty way via Loomies and along the coast from Lee on the Solent, taking in the sea breeze and views across to the Isle of Wight. The Royal Navy's Submarine Museum is a fantastic visit ignoring the rest of the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth, but when you factor in all the amazing attractions to see over there make the annual pass incredible value for money.
I 100% recommend this as a visit, it is incredibly interesting and enjoyable.

SUBMARINE VISIT! Part 1 - HMS ALLIANCE + Royal Navy Submarine Museum
Bruce Visits a Submarine!
We went to Gosport, Portsmouth, which is in the UK (England), to where the Royal Navy Submarine Museum is! It's a boat ride away from Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, and after being there for 1.5 days we would recommend being there for a few days at least to take in all the sights.
We went onto the HMS Alliance, which is a submarine completed in 1947, the only remaining WW2 era submarine, according to their website:
We purchased Full Navy tickets for Mommy and Daddy, as under 5 year olds travel free! These tickets enable us to visit within the year, so we can return say, in summer, if we'd like! For 5 to 15 year olds there are also Full Navy Child Tickets at £18.50 per child (with Gift Aid), the adult tickets are £31 per adult (with Gift Aid). These tickets cover many attractions and we can visit multiple times. Please see their website for what these tickets cover.
Other facts to help travellers are:
1) Height may be low in the submarine for tall people.
2) No food or drink allowed in the submarine. Food and drink can be purchased at a kiosk just outside the submarine and there are benches outside, as well as tables/chairs within the shop area which can be used.
3) Photos can be taken.
4) Our biggest mistake was missing the hourly water bus to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard after the submarine visit. It only takes a certain number of people on the water bus, and the return trip from Portsmouth Historic Dockyard to Royal Navy Submarine Museum is early (between 4 and 5pm), so do your research and give yourself plenty of time for the Historic Dockyard itself. We've been advised one can catch a ferry at the main Gosport ferry Terminal instead, but one has to pay, whereas these water buses are free with the tickets.

Royal Navy Submarine Museum, HMS Holland 1 And Honouring WW1 Sub E5 | Forces TV
The World War One submarine E5 is an important discovery. George Malcolmson, Archives Collection Officer at the National Museum of the Royal Navy, says the discovery of E5 will bring closure to the descendents of those lost, and could shed more light on sub warfare of the period. Meanwhile, the Royal Navy's first submarine, HMS Holland 1, preserved at the museum, dates to 1900 and illustrates well the working conditions in early subs.

HMS Alliance Walk Through Tour 2019 | 4K
Full walk through tour of HMS Alliance – which is included in the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard ‘Full Navy Ticket’.
HMS Alliance was one of sixteen ‘A’ Class Royal Navy submarines and was commissioned into service in 1947. In 1958 she was refitted and went on to fulfil a ‘hunter-killer’ role during the Cold War.
There is a water bus (included in the Full Navy Ticket) that drops you off right next to the Alliance. Alternatively, the museum is a short walk from the Gosport ferry terminal.
The Royal Navy Submarine Museum is certainly well worth a visit if you are visiting the Portsmouth/Gosport area.
Thanks for watching :)
