The Royal Opera House Muscat is a gorgeous architectural masterpiece. The interiors and design are truly mesmerizing.
You can either walk around the main building or choose to visit the main hall and theatre where you are given a guided tour as to how opera and orchestra performances are conducted.
This is a not-to-miss-sight in Muscat. Commissioned by the region's Sultan, and therefore includes some features of his palace, but truly resembles a modern European opera house. A guide explains all the features and history of the centre. Very easy to reach by bus or taxi, and modestly priced entrance fee, but payment by credit card only. Bear in mind that sight-seeing visits must not conflict with performance times. Probably safe to visit in the mornings and early afternoons. A truly enchanting experience indeed..

The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) is Oman's premier venue for musical arts and culture. The opera house is located in Shati Al-Qurm district of Muscaton Sultan Qaboos Street. Built on the royal orders of Sultan Qaboos of Oman, the Royal Opera House reflects unique contemporary Omani architecture, and has a capacity to accommodate maximum of 1,100 people. The opera house complex consists of a concert theatre, auditorium, formal landscaped gardens, cultural market with retail, luxury restaurants and an art centre for musical, theatrical and operatic productions.

The Royal Opera House Muscat is now open to the public to view the main hall and the theater daily from 8.30am to 10.30am.
However, even if you do not come on an official tour, you can still come to see the building and walk around it from the outside.
The big blockbuster shows such as actual operas usually sell out months before the show, but for many other performances, you can usually buy your tickets right before the performance online or by walking in and buying your tickets from the box office.
The building is surrounding by beautiful gardens, with beautiful flowers. I spend 3 hours to sit there ????.
The dress code is formal or business. For Omanis, this means Dishdasha and Massar (no khanjar) for men and formal attire for women. For Non-Omanis, this means suits for men and long dresses for females.

Hot on its heels came the guest stars of the evening, the ’Banda Monumental de Mexico; Magical Mexico’ from Puebla, taking the stage by storm. A troupe of ritually dressed Aztec tribal dancers with traditional headgear and facemasks came bursting into the arena, dancing, whirling – and roaring – to a single drum solo. They had their own military band with them who were equally arresting, dressed in white ponchos and sombreros. They comprised clarinets, saxophones, trombones, guitars with three pure white euphoniums – and a lasso.

As the country’s premier venue for musical arts and culture, The Royal Opera House Muscat is a jewel in Oman’s theatrical scene.
It was built upon the royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and can seat 1,100 in its auditorium.
A production of the opera Turandot, conducted by Spanish tenor Placido Domingo, officially opened its first season in 2011.
Since then, it has hosted performances by iconic artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Renee Fleming and Yoyo Ma, to name a few.
Built by Carillion Alawi, it showcases contemporary Omani architecture.
It’s a sight to behold, especially at night.
