Copenhagen's Skovshoved Hotel
Four miles north of Copenhagen and 100 yards from the sea, Skovshoved Hotel is a lovely three-story hotel set in a charming former fishing village. Rated one of the worlds top 50 hottest hotels (by Condé Nast), Skovshoved Hotel is decorated in a light and simple Scandinavian style with tasteful art that complements the beautiful setting. For an authentic pub atmosphere, you wont do better than the Skovshoved Pub next door. Have a Carlsberg and a Gammel Dansk and chat up the locals.
There is a bus stop right outside the hotel that will take you to City Hall Square near Tivoli and the Strøget. Or use one of the hotels bikes free of charge. From the Skovshoved Hotel, its a pleasant 20 minute walk along the sea and through a park to the town of Hellerup, where there is some interesting shopping for clothes and housewares as well as a few restaurants, although the hotels restaurant and patio serves up some of the best dishes youll find, including a wonderful rendition of mussels cooked in white wine.
Guest Rooms: Skovshoved has 22 guest rooms of varying size, many with balconies that provide a wonderful view of the sea and the coast. The rooms have comfortable beds, nice bathrooms and overhead, rainforest style showers. They are also equipped with all the tools that are necessary for both leisure and business travelers, including free high-speed internet access.
Final Word: Situated on an old coastal road and surrounded by historic houses, Skovshoved Hotel is just a stones throw from the sea. Not far down the road are the Royal Hunting Grounds, with forests and open fields that can be accessed easily on foot or bicycle. This natural preserve has an abundance of wildlife, including large herds of deer. Dont miss the neighborhood pub next door. Skovshoved is an excellent choice if you want an authentic Danish atmosphere that isnt smack dab in the center of Copenhagen.

How To Road Trip in Denmark (Exploring Denmark)
So Boy and I took a little weekend road trip around Denmark starting in Copenhagen... Details of the journey below!
0:25 - Legoland, Billund. We are big kids and Boy continues his obsession with Danish hot dogs.
1:10 - Exploring Aarhus, one of the the happiest cities in the world!
1:15 - Den Gamle By, The Old Town open-air museum in Aarhus. We hit up the old-school bakery there and had Vanilla Almond Biscuits, which is a traditional thing to have in Denmark at Christmas apparently!
1:52 - YES THERE ARE HAMMOCKS RANDOMLY IN AARHUS. No wonder everyone is so bloody happy. I would be too.
2:03 - S'vinbar in Aarhus, such a great wine bar.
2:16 - Drinks at Jacobs Bar BQ. Had dinner upstairs after - extremely average food and prices were ridiculous, which we found out after since there was no prices on the menu. Would NOT recommend.
2:18 - Stayed at Hotel Royal, Aarhus. Great location but wasn't hugely impressed, not great value for money. Has a casino next door, which we may or may not have visited. Also does not provide shampoo and conditioner etc, just body wash, which I found seriously odd from a hotel...
2:32 - Got croissants and coffees at Emmerys, Aarhus
2:54 - Visited the Men at Sea statues in Esbjerg
3:17 - Playing at Egeskov Castle. They have a playground area, car museum and so much more, as well as the castle.
3:43 - Lunch at Sortebro Kro. Incredible lunch. They gave us a Have a good trip present afterwards which was an apron with their restaurant name on it which was so sweet! Such a good end to the trip.

Conversations with Mads Mikkelsen of THE HUNT
Q&A with Mads Mikkelsen. Moderated by James Rocchi
Directed and co-written by Thomas Vinterberg, THE HUNT is a disturbing depiction of how a lie becomes the truth when gossip, doubt and malice are allowed to flourish and ignite a witch-hunt that soon threatens to destroy an innocent man's life. Mads Mikkelsen won the Best Actor Award at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival for his penetrating portrayal of Lucas, a former school teacher who has been forced to start over having overcome a tough divorce and the loss of his job. Just as things are starting to go his way, his life is shattered when an untruthful remark throws his small community into a collective state of hysteria. As the lie spreads, Lucas is forced to fight a lonely fight for his life and dignity.
Co-founder of the Dogme movement and director of award-winning international hit FESTEN (THE CELEBRATION), Thomas Vinterberg delivers yet another powerful drama that is sure to leave its mark. THE HUNT, which was co-written by Vinterberg and Tobias Lindholm (whose credits also include A HIJACKING, which he wrote and directed), won the 2012 European Film Awards Best Screenwriter prize and was nominated for prizes in a number of other categories, including Best Film, Director and Actor.
THE HUNT is produced by Morten Kaufmann and Sisse Graum Jørgensen for Zentropa Entertainments in co-production with Film I Väst and Zentropa International Sweden with support from The Danish Film Institute, DR, Eurimages, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, Svenska Film Institutet, SVT and the MEDIA Programme of the European Union. Nordic distribution by Nordisk Film Distribution. International sales by TrustNordisk.
Internationally acclaimed and multi-award winning actor Mads Mikkelsen is the top male star in his native Denmark. Mads Mikkelsen was born in 1965. After attending the Drama School at Aarhus Theatre, he made his film debut in the movie PUSHER (1996), which was directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, with whom he made BLEEDER (1999) and PUSHER II (2004). Later, he played the leading role in the Emmy Award-winning Danish TV show UNIT ONE (2000-2004). Mads Mikkelsen showcased his comic talents with his leading roles in THE GREEN BUTCHERS (2003) and ADAM'S APPLES (2006). Most recently, he starred in Nikolaj Arcel's double Silver Bear winner and box office hit A ROYAL AFFAIR (2012) which was nominated for both the Oscar® for Best Foreign Language Film and the Golden Globe® for Best Foreign Language Film. Mikkelsen was awarded Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival for his role in THE HUNT.
He began his international career with his role as Tristan in the movie KING ARTHUR (2004) but his international breakthrough came when he appeared as the Bond villain Le Chiffre in CASINO ROYALE (2006). That same year, he took the leading role in the Oscar®-nominated AFTER THE WEDDING directed by Academy Award® Winner Susanne Bier. Since then Mads Mikkelsen has appeared in several significant roles in international feature films such as Nicolas Winding Refn's VALHALLA RISING (2009), COCO CHANEL AND IGOR STRAVINSKY (2009), CLASH OF THE TITANS (2010) and THE THREE MUSKETEERS (2011). In 2011, Mads Mikkelsen was awarded the prestigious European Film Award for Achievement in World Cinema in recognition of his unique contribution to the world of film.
He is currently starring in HANNIBAL on NBC as the iconic character Dr. Hannibal Lector. HANNIBAL also stars Hugh Dancy and Laurence Fishburne.

Denmark (Danish: Danmark, pronounced [ˈtænmak] (listen)), officially the Kingdom of Denmark, is a sovereign state and Nordic country. Denmark proper consists of a peninsula, Jutland, and an archipelago of 443 named islands, with the largest being Zealand, Funen and the North Jutlandic Island. The islands are characterised by flat, arable land and sandy coasts, low elevation and a temperate climate. The southernmost of the Scandinavian nations, Denmark lies southwest of Sweden and south of Norway, and is bordered to the south by Germany. The Kingdom of Denmark also comprises two autonomous constituent countries in the North Atlantic Ocean: the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Denmark has a total area of 42,924 km2 (16,573 sq mi), land area of 42,394 km2 (16,368 sq mi), and the total area including Greenland and the Faroe Islands is 2,210,579 km2 (853,509 sq mi), and a population of 5.8 million (as of 2018).The unified kingdom of Denmark emerged in the 10th century as a proficient seafaring nation in the struggle for control of the Baltic Sea. Denmark, Sweden, and Norway were ruled together under one sovereign ruler in the Kalmar Union, established in 1397 and ending with Swedish secession in 1523. The areas of Denmark and Norway remained under the same monarch until 1814, Denmark–Norway. Beginning in the 17th century, there were several devastating wars with the Swedish Empire, ending with large cessions of territory to Sweden. After the Napoleonic Wars, Norway was ceded to Sweden, while Denmark kept the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Iceland. In the 19th century there was a surge of nationalist movements, which were defeated in the 1864 Second Schleswig War. Denmark remained neutral during World War I. In April 1940, a German invasion saw brief military skirmishes while the Danish resistance movement was active from 1943 until the German surrender in May 1945. An industrialised exporter of agricultural produce in the second half of the 19th century, Denmark introduced social and labour-market reforms in the early 20th century that created the basis for the present welfare state model with a highly developed mixed economy.
The Constitution of Denmark was signed on 5 June 1849, ending the absolute monarchy, which had begun in 1660. It establishes a constitutional monarchy organised as a parliamentary democracy. The government and national parliament are seated in Copenhagen, the nation's capital, largest city, and main commercial centre.
