LISBON: Arch of Rua Augusta - viewpoint (Portugal)
Arco da Rua Augusta is a stone, triumphal arch-like, historical building and visitor attraction on the Praça do Comércio (square) in Lisbon/Lisboa, Portugal. It was built to commemorate the city's reconstruction after the 1755 earthquake. Because of the top cornice's great height (over 100 feet/30 m), the figures above it had to be made colossal. From 9th of August 2013 it is possible to reach the viewpoint at the top of the arch, using a lift and two flights of steep stairs.

Praça do Comércio (English: Commerce Square) is still commonly known as Terreiro do Paço because it was the location of the Paços da Ribeira until it was destroyed by the great 1755 Lisbon earthquake. After the earthquake, the square was completely remodelled as part of the rebuilding of the Pombaline Downtown.

Augusta Street is a pedestrian street located in the center of Lisbon in Portugal. It connects the trade square to Rossio and is named in honor of the august statue of King Joseph I of Portugal. It is lined with shops, most of the major international brands. It has been pedestrian since the late 1980s and is frequently occupied by street artists, craftsmen and street vendors.

Lisbon Portugal Day 3 | Castelo de São Jorge | Arco da Rua Augusta | Praça do Comércio
We got off to a great start with a yummy breakfast and then onto Castelo de São Jorge. As it was Monday, we were hoping that it will be quieter than the weekend and we won't have to stand in line for too long.......it was busy!!!
Wandering through the streets, trying desperately to get lost, we ended up down on the river, passing by Elevador de Santa Justa and on through Arco da Rua Augusta to stand in awe on Praça do Comércio.
Our night couldn't have ended more wonderfully than with a delicious dinner at the cutest little restaurant called Saint André.
