Rudrasagar lake, about 55 Km. away from Agartala near Melaghar with 5.3 Sq.Km. water area is another big attraction. In the centre of the lake the famous lake palace of Tripura namely Neermahal is built. Neermahal literally means Water Palace. The Palace is a picturesque fairy-tale royal mansion located in the middle of the Rudrasagar Lake which is 53 Km. south of agartala. Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore manikya built the palace in 1930 A.D. as his summer residence being inspired by Mughal Style of architecture.
The lake witnesses a large number of migratory birds in every winter. Every year a boat race is organized in July/August. The visiting tourists can enjoy boating facility in the lake.

Neermahal is built in the middle of Rudrasagar lake.
It is located 53 km away from Agartala.
From Agartala, can be reach by bus or any booking vehicles.
It is located in Melaghar town of Sipahijila district of Tripura.
Distance from Melaghar main road to Lake is near to 1 km (not completely 1 km)
It is walking distance. You may be go there by an auto or any e-riksha.
Opening time is 9 AM.
Closing time is 5 PM.
Bosting charge is 30 ruppee.
Palace visiting charge is 29 ruppee.
It was built by modern architecture maharaja of Tripura, maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Deb barman Manikya during 1930 to 1938.
It is second biggest lake palace of India in the water after Jalmahal, Udaipur, Rajasthan. And first in eastern India.
It is built for the summer residential of king.
It is built by British company Martin and Burns.
The building architecture design of building is a blend of Muslim & Hindu traditional and cultures.
The palace have 24 rooms inside. Including music hall, dancing hall, visitors hall, kings bedroom, conference hall, amusement room, dining room, servant room, watch tower, guard room, generator room etc.
The view of Neermahal from distance is amazing. When you are near to palace by boat, the look of palace is very attractive.
By buying a ticket for boating charge are different. But the common charge of common boat is 30 ruppee only.
If you enjoy of the boating, you can higher a personal boat which charge is different. You can see the price list in the video St ticket counter.
The palace charge is only 20 ruppee.
Camera charge is 20 ruppee.
The main problem is the related to boat. The boat gives you only 40 minutes for visiting to the palace.
But the palace ticket gives you staying there till closing time (5 o'clock evening)
***About Rudrasagar lake
It is a wetland of Tripura.
It is one of the identified wetlands of India.
You can observe sevarsl bird at there.
So it is a destination for bird watchers.
Here in the monsoon, the boat race among Fisherman is also conducted.

The palace is the largest of its kind in India and the only one in Eastern India. There are only two water palace in India another one is the Jal Mahal in Rajasthan.
Known as ‘lake palace’ of Tripura, Neer-Mahal was constructed as a summer residence. It was Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur’s idea to build a palace in the beautiful Rudrasagar lake and in 1921 he accredited the British company Martin and Burns to construct the palace for him. The company took nine years to complete the work. Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur belonged to the ‘Manikya Dynasty’ which is supposed to be the second from a single line in the world today.
The palace is the establishment of Maharaja’s great taste and his fascinating idea of blending Hindu and Muslim traditions and cultures.
The palace is divided into two parts. The western side of the palace is known as Andar Mahal. It was made for the royal family. The eastern side is an open-air theatre where drama, theatre, dance and other cultural events were organized for the enjoyment of Maharajas and their royal families. The palace has 24 rooms in total.
Neer-Mahal has two stairways inside leading down to a landing on the water of Rudrasagar Lake. Maharajas used to go by motor boat to the palace from ‘Rajghat’.

The nearest airport is at Agartala and it is situated 57.6 km from the Agartala Airport.
By Train
The nearest railhead is at Agartala and it is situated 43.4 km from the Agartala Railway Station.

Buses and small vehicles are available from the Agartala Bus stand to Melaghar market (48.4 kms). From Melaghar market you will get the auto/Rickshaw for the Neermahal.

Neermahal signifying Water royal residence is a previous imperial castle worked by King Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarman of the recent Kingdom of Tripura,India amidst the lake Rudrasagar in 1930 and was finished by 1938. It is arranged in Melaghar, 53 kilometers far from the Agartala, the capital of Tripura. The castle is arranged amidst Rudrasagar Lake and acclimatizes Hindu and Muslim structural styles.
The castle is the biggest of its kind in India and the just a single in Eastern India. There are just two water royal residence in India another is the Jal Mahal in Rajasthan.
Known as 'lake royal residence' of Tripura, Neer-Mahal was developed as a late spring living arrangement. It was Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur's thought to assemble a royal residence in the wonderful Rudrasagar lake and in 1921 he certify the British organization Martin and Burns to develop the castle for him. The organization took nine years to finish the work. Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur had a place with the 'Manikya Dynasty' which should be the second from a solitary line on the planet today.
The castle is the foundation of Maharaja's awesome taste and his intriguing thought of mixing Hindu and Muslim conventions and societies.
The castle is isolated into two sections. The western side of the castle is known as Andar Mahal. It was made for the imperial family. The eastern side is an outside theater where dramatization, theater, move and other social occasions were sorted out for the happiness regarding Maharajas and their imperial families. The royal residence has 24 rooms altogether.
