RUE CREMIEUX PARIS
Cette vidéo traite de la rue crémieux
rue Cremieux, Paris & a walk on a magical street in the 12th Arrondissement!
Paris’s rue Cremieux is a gem **almost** hidden in the 12th. It is a street to saunter along as you gaze at the pastel painted wonders aligning each side and/or marvel at the highly imaginative and charming individualized touches. A cat leaping here, a bird soaring or, a trompe-l'œil tree, a Chat Noir acting as silent sentinel or a clock from The New York Electrical Company gracing a homes’ front steps. Its diminutive size is compensated for by its rich history and Hollywood central-casting like homes standing shoulder-to-shoulder, separated by a wondrous traditional pavé-stone road. It symbolizes so much of this charming city, and is a balm for the soul.

To see the street in even more of its ‘magic’ see the video by Magic System (Tu es fou)!
PS: That’s “Portobello Road” not ‘row’, as I said in my excited narrative. PSS: Le Chat Noir was a famed 19th C. cabaret in Montmarte which opened in 1881. Images of the famed feline are omnipresent throughout Paris. (And rightly so, we think)!
*(lack of) Production Note: Am supposed to be (temporarily) on a crutch but can't use it when shooting so forgive the jumpiness. Thx

Paris 12th Arrondissement - 20 in 20 Day 12 - Rue Cremieux and Coulee Verte
Paris' 12th arrondissement isn't one I'd go to for coffee or a meal, but it does have Rue Cremieux and the Coulee Verte, which are both fantastic spots to wander and take photos. Grab my guide to Paris here: for these and plenty of other options for food, drinks, and coffee while visiting the 12th and surrounding areas!

My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa and hoping to make the city of light my home base - at least for the foreseeable future. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlog daily, and love pizza a little too much.

FAQ:
How long have you lived in France? On and off for over two years.
What do you miss most about ho- NACHOS
You're always talking about living on some ship. WHAT SHIP? - I made a Draw My Life video that explains a lot here:
Where are you from originally? - Pullman, Washington - a small university/agricultural town near Idaho (and yes, the potatoes are amazing).
What do you film with? - I've made a lot of changes recently, but I try to keep my gear list up to date if you want to see what I use and buy some for yourself:
What do you edit with? - Adobe Premiere - it's pretty much all I've ever used since high school.
Aren't you ever freaked out by leaving your camera behind to film yourself? - Yep. But not too badly - I tend to be careful when I do.
Why are you living in #Paris? - Because I've always wanted to; I feel at home here:
Do you speak French? Oui.
You talk a lot about the books you're working on, what are they about? - They're sci-fi (and fantasy) and I've got a decent pitch for you here:
Do you make money off YouTube? - Ha, no. I wish. It took me over 500 videos to make my first total $100 off adsense. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - The easiest and best way to support me is through Patreon, where you can pitch in as little as $1/mo to help me make better videos:
I don't trust this Patreon thing - can I just paypal you? - Here's my ko-fi if that's your thing (and coffee is your game):
But I want to send you something tangible! - I do have a wishlist on Amazon, though it's a bit complicated with the international shipping situation. This is the US one:
And here's the French wishlist:
Thanks for watching!
Rue Crémieux, Paris (France)
You could moor your pleasure boat, barge or yacht about two blocks or so from here in the Bassin de L'Arsènale in Paris, near Bastille and Gare de Lyon. This is not a touristy area around Rue Crémieux. This is off Rue de Bercy, which runs roughly perpendicular to the water.
These are old maisons de ville and were and generally still are single-family dwellings. Each one picked a color and a motif, but it's pretty sedate (this is Paris, after all). No cars allowed -- not even for the residents (no garages, and no gardens). When people want to sit out, they move little tables and chairs right in front of their houses to do so. Since so few tourists are marching by, it's usually peaceful. The moving truck or a serious delivery or service van could get in by arrangement.
There is a small hotel on this street, 70 euros per night for one or two people. The rooms have showers, mail (I think they mean e-mail?), TV. After I was doing this clip, I saw with embarrassment that the Hôtel Mignon (Cute Hotel) does not wish people to hang around taking pictures of it. Ooops.
The wonderful private museum LA MAISON ROUGE is near here -- we go so often, my spouse has a subscription so he can just pop in when he likes. He took me to see a show he'd already seen twice before. If you want to drop in, it's 8 euros. There is a restaurant I call the fishbowl (you'll see). There's also quite a big bookstore and shop. The Parc de L'Arsenale is along the boat basin which connects canals with the Seine and it's very nice, great for children, wonderful for scenery, greenery and walks.
A simple city map will help you find Rue Cremieux in the 12th arrondissement. I am disabled and found the walk from the museum and the water easy. This clip was made on a sedate Paris August Sunday afternoon -- the city is always dead, dead, dead, a lot of things closed for the month by August. I consider it a special time, and never go away again for vacation until September.

Rue du Prévôt in Paris France
The Marais literally means 'marsh' and that is exactly what this Parisian neighborhood was 1,000 years ago, writes Abby Gordon, an American expat and freelance writer based in Paris.
Before the area was drained into a fertile marshland, it was a swamp, and unfortunately the swamp-like odors remained centuries after the transformation. Narrow cobblestoned streets, exposed stone and beamed-buildings and slanted walls and rooflines are prevalent, a testament to the Marais's medieval history.
Today, the Marais is one of Paris's most trendy and desirable neighborhoods. It is the hub of the gay community in Paris. The Marais is also home to so many restaurants, cafes, and boutiques, many of which stay open on Sundays, an unusual phenomenon in France. Despite this modernization, the Marais still retains so much of the medieval character that was bulldozed in the 19th and 20th centuries for bigger and better structures in other parts of the City of Light—but not the medieval smell. Thankfully, the most prevalent smell these days emanates from the numerous seductive boulangeries (bakeries) and pâtisseries (pastry shops).
