Pergamon lies on the north edge of the Caicus plain in the historic region of Mysia in the northwest of Turkey. The Caicus river breaks through the surrounding mountains and hills at this point and flows in a wide arc to the southwest. At the foot of the mountain range to the north, between the rivers Selinus and Cetius, there is the massif of Pergamon which rises 335 metres above sea level. The site is only 26 km from the sea, but the Caicus plain is not open to the sea, since the way is blocked by the Karadağ massif. As a result, the area has a strongly inland character.
from Bergama to the ruins of Pergamon(Pergamum) by funicular
Pergamon (Greek: Πέργαμον or Πέργαμος), or Pergamum, was an ancient Greek city in modern-day Turkey, in Mysia, today located 16 miles (26 km) from the Aegean Sea on a promontory on the north side of the river Caicus (modern day Bakırçay), that became the capital of the Kingdom of Pergamon during the Hellenistic period, under the Attalid dynasty, 281--133 BC. Pergamon was cited in the book of Revelation as one of the seven churches of Asia. Today, the main sites of ancient Pergamon are to the north and west of the modern city of Bergama. [Wikipedia]

In our days Pergamos is called Bergama and it's ruins stands on top of a huge and high rocky hill located in modern-day Turkey.
In ancient history of antiquity the ancient kingdom of PHRYGIA was once called Asia Minor. My search about Pergamos was so rewarding since it took me from one book to another. From one historian to another. And inbetween I discovered fabulous informations. However there is no doubt that Pergamos was called by different names. It was a city with titles. And according to some historians, it seems that it was was built on the ruins of former ancient TROY or else near by.
The ancient maps, speak for themselves.
But I will discuss TROY and it's foudnation in another video, if GOD wants. As far as for this video, my intention is just to give you a brief description about Pergamos or alsocalled Pergamon,Pergamum Bergama in our days and understand for what reason it was so famous. And also why in the bible we are told that Pergamon is where the throne of satan is! As always history is full of unknown and untold suprises and we will not know if we don't look for them.

Pergamum was under the control of the Lydian King Kroisos in 560BC. Then came under the rule of Alexander the Great in 334BC. Pergamum is off the tourist path, when we visited the Ruins our group of four were the only people there. There are a lot of Roman ruins to see. The Temple of Trajan, the Roman amphitheater, Galen's clinic, and much more. In the nearby city of Bergama the Roman Sanctuary The Red Basilica and the Bergama Museum is well worth seeing.

The Tower of Babel was in Pergamum, where Satan has his throne!
Why did Christ refer to Pergamum (or modern day Bergama, Turkey) as the place where Satan lives and where his throne is to be found? Could this be also the place where the Antichrist was buried and where he will be resurrected? If so, what is the biblical significance of this place and what is its historical connection with Satan and the Antichrist?
I believe Pergamum was the land of Shinar where Nimrod constructed the tower of Babel.
Many people associate ancient Babylon (which is now modern day Iraq), with Babel. So to claim that Babel or the land of Shinar is located in ancient Pergamum in Turkey will be objectionable to them. However, if we examine closely the events that happened before the land of Shinar was found we can see that Iraq could not have been where the tower of Babel was built.
According to Genesis 10: 8-10 Babel was the beginning of Nimrod’s kingdom. And according to Revelation 2: 12-13 Pergamum is where Satan’s throne is located. This means that both Nimrod and Satan has chosen the same place, namely Pergamum or Babel, as the capital of their earthly rule. It is unavoidable to conclude then, that Nimrod is the wild beast mentioned in Revelation whose deadly head wound will be healed, and to whom Satan will be giving his power and his throne and great authority.
