Dubbed 'The Dramatic Valley of the Roan Antelope and Oribi',
Ruma National Park is the only terrestrial park in Nyanza Province. It was established as the Lambwe Valley Game Reserve in 1966 to protect its indigenous population of rare roan antelopes. Its name was later changed to Ruma National Park in 1983.

Homa Bay county facing acute shortage of veterinary officers
An acute shortage of veterinary officers has hit Homa Bay county. The County executive committee member of Agriculture Juma Aguko told NTV that the county has only 40 vets most of whom have clocked the retirement age.
This revelation comes at a time when livestock farmers in Lambwe valley reported increased Tsetse flies in the region.
