But a group of residents, determined not to let their town wither away, came together and managed to get a new shop opened. Let’s Go! Traversing Hokkaido
Sapporo and Hokkaido is easily accessible via plane through the Sendai Airport and takes a little over an hour to land into the New Chitose Airport. From there the Rapid train reaches Sapporo in around 40 minutes.
We spent one week travelling across the island via train, subway, bus and car. Sapporo is a very liveable and green city. As we made our was across the island, it was great knowing we had made it to the very North. It was definitely a visit worthwhile as the drive up is mostly along the beautiful coast of Ishikari and Rumoi with great pit stops at the many michi-no-ekis.
Locations visited: Sapporo Tower, Hokkaido Government Office, Hokkaido Shrine Office, Maruyama Zoo, Atsuta Michi-No-Eki, Shosanbetsu Michi-No-Eki, Cape Soya, Wakkanai, Furano Farm Tomita and Melon House, Hokkaido University Museum, Nakajima Park, Sapporo Concert Hall
The Let's Go Series was produced to inspire my ES children to get outside and explore. Only basic English is used in the videos so that children learning English as a second language can follow along.

삿포로 여행의 마지막 날. 아침에 체크아웃을 한 저희 부부는 노르벳사 몰에 있는 피규어샵에 잠시 들른 뒤, 오도리 공원에 위치한 TV타워까지 느긋하게 걸어갑니다. 오도리 공원을 잠시 돌아본 저희 부부는 그대로 홋카이도청구본청사로 향합니다. 그렇게 모든 일정을 마친 저희 부부는 삿포로역에서부터 JR을 타고 신치토세 공항으로 향하면서 이번 여행을 마무리 합니다. 자세한 이야기는 영상에서 확인하시죠 ^^
The last day of our trip to Sapporo. After checking out in the morning, our couple stop at the figure shop in Norbessa Mall and walk to the TV Tower in Odori Park. Our couple who turned around Odori Park for a while goes straight to Hokkaido Government Old Main City Hall. After finishing all the schedule, our couple finishes the trip and from Sapporo Station to New Chitose Airport with JR. For more information, check out the video :)
札幌旅行の最後の日。朝にチェックアウトをした私たち夫婦は、ノールベッサモールのフィギュアショップにしばらく立ち寄った後、大通公園に位置し、札幌テレビ塔までゆっくり歩いていきます。大通公園をしばらく見て回った私たち夫婦はそのまま北海道請求本庁舎に向かいます。そのすべての日程を終えた私たち夫婦は、札幌駅からJRに乗って新千歳空港に向かいながら、今回の旅行を仕上げます。詳しい話は、映像で確認ですよね^^

The Hokkaido Railway Company (北海道旅客鉄道株式会社, Hokkaidō Ryokaku Tetsudō Kabushiki-gaisha) is one of the constituent companies of the Japan Railways Group (JR Group), and is often referred to using its official abbreviation of JR Hokkaido (JR北海道, Jeiāru Hokkaidō). It operates intercity and local rail services in Hokkaido, Japan. The company introduced Kitaca, a smart card ticketing system, in autumn 2008.
At the time of its privatization in 1987, JR Hokkaido operated 21 railway lines totalling 3,176.6 kilometres (1,973.8 mi) of narrow-gauge (1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in)) track, as well as a ferry service to Aomori. Since then, that figure has dwindled to just below 2,500 kilometres (1,600 mi), as unprofitable lines have been shut down or spun off (in the case of the Hokkaidō Chihoku Kōgen Railway). The ferry service has also been replaced by the Seikan Tunnel.
On 19 November 2016, JR Hokkaido's President announced plans to further rationalize its network by the withdrawal of services from up to 1,237 km, or about 50% of the current network, including closure of the remaining section of the Rumoi Main Line (the Rumoi - Mashike section closed on 4 December 2016), the Shin-Yubari - Yubari section of the Sekisho Line, the non-electrified section of the Sassho Line and the Nemuro Line between Furano and Kami-Ochiai Junction. Other lines including the Sekihoku Main Line, Senmo Main Line, the Naroyo - Wakkanai section of the Soya Line and Kushiro - Nemuro section of the Nemuro Line are proposed for conversion to Third Sector operation, but if local governments are not agreeable, such sections will also face closure.
Hokkaido Railway's headquarters are in Chūō-ku, Sapporo.
