OSLO MARATHON EXPO 2018 | Oslo - Norway First Impression
There's always a strange but familiar feeling about visiting a new country. And for me, Norway made me feel that way. Oslo feels very familiar and welcoming, and I'm really glad that I will be spending some time here in Norway.
But before I get more comfortable in this exciting city, I already committed myself to running the 2018 Oslo Marathon. Our good friend Bjorn and I signed up for the full marathons months in advance.
I met up with Bjorn and we went to the Oslo Marathon Expo, which took place at the Radhuset, the City Hall. Here, we explored many vendors with different products related to health and sports - and I feel like everything is very expensive.
We also picked up our 2018 Oslo Marathon package.

We Missed our Flight. Went to Oslo, Norway Instead.
The idea was to arrive in Helsinki, Finland, to pick up our motorhome, but we missed our connecting flight due to a delay, and ended up spending a day in Oslo, the capital of Norway. We visited the Kon Tiki Museum and Vigeland Park, among other things. This is part one of our Nordic Road Trip.

Korketrekkeren Toboggan Run in Oslo, Norway
My favorite part of Oslo, Norway in the winter is the Korketrekkeren Toboggan Run! Over 1.24 miles long with an elevation drop of 836 feet. This video is just one piece of the run that takes 8 minutes if you are speed demon or 10 minutes like me who stopped to take pictures on every turn.

2 km toboggan run in Oslo: Korketrekkeren
Oslo's most popular toboggan run is an adrenaline filled sled ride called Korketrekkeren (the cork screw) that starts at Frognerseteren and ends at Midtstuen metro station. At the end of a run, you can take a 16-minute metro ride back up to Frognerseteren for another go.
Korktrekkeren is 2,000 metres long, and the elevation drop is 255 metres. One non-stop ride takes 8–10 minutes, althoug the pros do it in just 2!
Note: Korketrekkeren is only open when there is enough snow in the area.
Getting there:
Take the metro line 1 from the city to Frognerseteren. This is a scenic metro ride so have your camera ready.
Sled and equipment rental:
Riding in Korketrekkeren is free, but sled rental costs 100–150 NOK per day. You can also bring your own sled.
Akeforeningen, located down the hill from the Frognerseteren metro stop, has sleds for rent as well as sledding classes.
Skiservice has sleds and equipment for rent from its office across the street from Frognerseteren Café.

I took one day, 24hrs to visit my friend in Norway! Took a great tour of the city and had a well spent day! This trip however was very expensive as the value of Norwegian currency is more than the Pound !!!!

This video is about me and my friend who joined the color me rad 2018 in oslo norway. its a 5km fun run and when you reach every 1km they will throw some color on you. too bad we are late, so we just experienced throwing one color on us. hahahahahha but it was fun.
When Usain Bolt crashed into a flower girl in Oslo in 2012 - Flashback
An eight time Olympic champion and 11 time World Champion, Usain Bolt is undoubtedly the greatest sprinter, and arguably the greatest sportsman of the modern era.
Like all the world's top athletes, Bolt was a regular fixture on the IAAF Diamond League circuit from 2010-2017, and his biggest success in the competition came in 2012, when he blasted away the competition to claim the Diamond Trophy in the 100m.
On the way to his title was a particularly memorable race in Oslo, when Bolt, lining up against the likes of compatriot Asafa Powell, clocked 9.79 to take a typically comfortable victory. But it was what happened next that stayed in the memory.
Slowing down into the bend, the Jamaican didn't see the approaching flower girl until it was too late, and crashed headlong into the unsuspecting Norwegian. To his credit, he managed to keep the woman from falling to the track, hauling her to her feet before gratefully receiving the flowers.

OSLO SAUNA - Jumping into the Oslo Fjord! | SALT Sauna in Oslo, Norway
The day starts at the Nobel Peace Center, where I learned everything I ever wanted to know about the Nobel Peace Price. This is the only Nobel Prize that is awarded in Norway. The rest of the ceremonies are held every year in Stockholm, Sweden.
The Nobel Peace Center is a great place to explore - lots of information about world peace and the Nobel Peace Price recipients, including President Barack Obama and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. My favorite part was the Nobel Chamber, where they present the information with a magic touchscreen. Just like attending Hogwarts!
The second museum was the Oslo City Museum, one of the most popular museums in Oslo. It is next to Vigeland Park, and both of these museums are free if you have the Oslo Pass.
I topped off my Oslo experience with a treat at the SALT - an Oslo Sauna. It is a sauna complex where locals hang out with friends, either having a drink or snack at the food court, or inside the amazing Ardna Sauna. Ardna has a capacity of 100+ attendees inside the dry sauna.
I followed the locals' advice to jump into the frigid water of Oslo Fjord. It was a very cool Oslo experience - literally! Thankfully I could run back to Ardna Sauna to warm up.

It is one of the best Scandinavian sauna experiences you can do in Oslo!
