With more than 600.000 inhabitants Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland. Most of the historical sights and buildings as well as a number of large murals are located in the center making it easy to explore the city by walking. Another great thing is that most of the museums are free of charge.
One of the highlights for me was the Glasgow Necropolis, a Victorian cemetery located on a very prominent hill to the east of Glasgow Cathedral.
I met up with Kathi who lives in Glasgow for more than 4 years to get to know the trendy parts of the city such as the Hidden Lane in Finnieston and the SWG3 followed by one of the must things to do in Glasgow - ia proper whiskey experience and a night out with live music!
In the series „Life by the River“ I’m about to show you things to do on & off the beaten path focussing on hip & trendy areas with the help of locals in Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool. Glasgow ~ Kingston Bridge ~ GLASGOW M8 ~ Glasgow Sights ~ Expressway
South to West end.
The Kingston Bridge (Scots: Kingstoun Brig) is a balanced cantilever dual-span ten lane road bridge made of triple-cell segmented prestressed concrete box girders crossing the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland. The largest urban bridge in the United Kingdom, it carries the M8 motorway through the city centre. The Kingston Bridge is also one of the busiest road bridges in Europe, carrying around 150,000 vehicles every day.[1][2]The name of the bridge referred to the erstwhile Kingston Dock which was located on the south bank of the river. It had been completed in 1867 between Windmillcroft Quay and the former headquarters of the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society on Morrison Street in Tradeston, adjacent to where the bridge now stands. It was Glasgow's first enclosed dock. The dock was eventually closed to navigation in 1966, when work began on the construction of the Kingston Bridge, and the basin was subsequently in-filled and apartments built on the site. At the time of construction however the Clyde Port Authority still insisted that the bridge have a clearance height of 18 m (60 ft) in order to allow dredgers to go upstream as far as the King George V Bridge. The bridge was designed by William Fairhurst and built by Logan-Marples Ridgway.
Location[edit]
The A814 Clydeside Expressway snakes along the edge of the north bank of the River Clyde. It is a non-trunk road and provides a bypass of Glasgow's west end. At its western end it connects with the north portal of the A739 Clyde Tunnel, while in the east it meets the M8 at Junction 19 to the north of the Kingston Bridge.

A Guide to Scotland's Cities
Scotland’s cities… where do we start? Our seven Scottish cities each boasts a welcoming atmosphere, fascinating culture, and hundreds of incredible attractions that you can explore by foot, bike, bus or car. One minute you could be walking down medieval streets, visiting top attractions and chatting to the friendly locals and the next you could be wandering through the glorious countryside, surrounded by glistening lochs and towering mountains.
The capital city, Edinburgh, is where past and present collide. Filled to the brim with fascinating attractions, it’s a place where prehistoric volcanos, medieval streets and buildings and modern architecture meet – you won’t be lost for something to gaze in awe at. Summer in Edinburgh is on a whole other level. Our streets are overflowing with acts, performances, and vibrant colours, with something new around every corner during Edinburgh summer festivals. Our winter festivals are a real gem too – market stalls filled with mince pies, mulled wine, and Christmas-y gift, complete with a warm atmosphere that’ll last for days.
Glasgow is a cultural hub, and it’s perfect if you love music, an arty vibe, and eclectic bars and pubs amongst other things. With hundreds of creative venues, you won’t miss out on shows and performances that take place throughout the year. Glasgow is a UNESCO City of Music, so you are bound to come across a few up and coming musicians and bands whilst you are here. Aside from the brilliant events programme, uncover the fascinating museums, quirky vintage and boutique shops, striking architecture, diverse art galleries and much more across the city.
Stirling used to be Scotland’s capital, up until 1437, and has been the setting of some major historic moments, including the Battle of Bannockburn and the many dramas of Stirling Castle. Explore the pubs, bars and restaurants where you can taste some delicious local produce and soak up the lively nightlife.
Dundee is stacked full of culture and it’s the UK’s first UNESCO City of Design, meaning it has lots of creative spaces, quirky buildings and boasts a fun and friendly vibe. Next door, Perth is a beautiful city, located only an hour away from Edinburgh, and is sprinkled with fascinating historic attractions, exhibitions, theatres, galleries, museums and more to explore.
On the east coast, Aberdeen is full of stunning granite buildings and architecture that dates back centuries, along with a stunning seafront and harbour where you can often spot the resident pod of dolphins playing in the waves.
And in the north, Inverness is Scotland’s most northerly city and is often known as the ‘capital of the Highlands’. The city is entwined with Outlander connections, so if you are a fan of the TV show, Inverness should definitely be stopping point for you.
Visiting Scotland’s cities is a must do. There are a variety to choose from and each feature a unique character to explore, along with exciting things to see and do in each.

ScotRail First Class | Trip Report (Glasgow - Edinburgh | Class 385)
In this video, I'm headed to bonnie Scotland once again, exploring a route that I haven't covered in great depth before - so what better way to explore the E-G route than in First Class?!
This video will see me take in ScotRail's brand new Class 385 AT200 units in First Class, seeing some of the sights along the way and seeing just what bang you get for your buck. In terms of cost, this trip was bought in tandem with another trip on LNER's First Class from Edinburgh - Newcastle, and cost me £28 one way for both TOC's - that's pretty good value!
Next week's video will be from Hest Bank in Lancashire, filmed on Bank Holiday Monday. In the meantime, though, be sure to smash that LIKE button, COMMENT, RATE and SUBSCRIBE if you're new - also check out my Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates - links below! Vlog 03 - Discover Glasgow
I believe that you don't have to be an expert in art to love and enjoy it (c'mon please tell me I'm not the only one who stares at an artwork that I don't understand but still marvel at it hahaha). And if you do, you might want to check out Glasgow, Scotland. Glasgow is home to a large collection of art in Europe, and most of them are free! So of course I've gone to some of them! I'm sharing you bits and clips from my visit to Glasgow City Chambers and Gallery of Modern Art. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I did!
Ps. I know that ^ could have been my intro to this vlog but I don't want to spoil art because of my face lol. Kidding, I don't have enough space on my drive to film one XD. I promise to upload another episode where I actually talk hahahah!
Pps. If you have any suggestion on what to cover in Scotland, what to try, where to go, or if you just want to send some love please do drop it in the comments section below hihihi. Peace out!

Scottish Independence March In Inverness 25/1/20
Hey There! I hope you enjoyed the Video!
======
Today there was a Scottish Independence March Through Walker Park to Bught Park in Inverness. It went through the town centre and I was lucky enough to be there (starting at the town centre for me) and march with my fellow Scots. This is not the best video quality as I wasn't aiming for that, this video is here just to show how it went with the massive turnout!
