Fürth is a city in northern Bavaria, Germany, in the administrative division of Middle Franconia. It is now contiguous with the larger city of Nuremberg, the centres of the two cities being only 7 km apart. The city of Fuerth is a small city located in Middle Franconia. Located nearby the larger city of Nuremberg, it was first mentioned in 1007 AD. In the year 2007, the city celebrated its thousandth anniversary. During the 30 year war in the 17th-century, the whole city was almost completely destroyed by fire set by the Croatian soldiers. It survived other wars such as World War I & II and grew to be a city in its own rights. The first German railway was opened here in 1835 which connects to Nuremberg. There’s a lot of cool things to see in this city and we’ve compiled a list of 10 places specially for you.
The beautiful Stadpark is a green lung right in the middle of the city. There are loads of things you can do here. You can go for a jog by the running trails or simply ride a bicycle around the bike paths. The Wolfsgruber mill (also known as Wolfsgrubermühle in German) is one of the oldest mills in Fuerth. It was first mentioned in the early 17th-century and belonged to the Eckart family. It was then passed on to the Wolfsgruber family in the 19th-century.
The Logenhaus was first erected by the famous German freemason, Leonhard Bürger as a place for the Masonic lodge of Truth and Friendship in 1890. The unique blend of many different kinds of historical styles makes this building one of its kind in Bavaria. The Grüner Markt (also known as Marktplatz) is an open area which is in the centre of the old town of Fuerth. The place is lined with a variety of cafes, beautiful courtyards and an array of interesting shops.
The Fuerth State Museum has a massive collection of anything and everything that has to do with the history of the city. The collections were first collected by Conrad Gebhardt, the merchant and deputy of the Reichs parliament. Located at the basement of the Fuerth Town Hall, immerse yourself in awe and mystery as you delve into the minds of the criminals from the past to present in this museum.
Hainburg Nature Reserve huge 213 hectare (526 acre) nature reserve was first listed as a conservation area in 1995. Before that, it was a training ground for the US Army. The Schloss Burgfarrnbach is a neo-classical castle which was made in the early 19th-century. It is now home to the scientific library and countless other city archives which provide the basis for the permanent exhibitions in the Stadtmusuem.
The Rundfunkmuseum is a radio museum which was founded in 1993. If you’re an audiophile, a visit to this place is a must. The Alte Veste (Old Veste) is a tower hill castle which was erected as an observation tower by the Berg family in the 13th-century. During the town war, it was overrun by the Nurembergers and the Old Veste was abandoned in the late 14th-century.
