Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
A 4 day hike over the mountains to Machu Picchu.
The Inca Trail began very early at around 5am when we were picked up by a bus that drove us to Ollantambo for breakfast. We then continued to km 82 were the trail begins.
The hike on the 1st day follows the Urubamba river up to Meskay village where we turn into the valley to the camp side of Huayllabamba.
The 2nd day was the hardest where we needed to climb 1200m in 5 km. An endless number of steps! Once at the summit of the Death Woman's pass, the view is beautiful. Next step was to hike down the hill to camp Pacasmayo.
The 3rd day started with another tough climb to Runkuracay. After this summit starts the forrest vegetation. Next Inca stop was Sayaqmarca with a nice overview of the area. The hike brought us next to the remains of Phuyupatamarca before stepping down lots of steps to Wiñayhuayna.
The last day was a short hike to Intipunku. Unfortunately, fog was all around, so no nice shots of Machu Picchu.

Camino Inca a Machu Picchu
Día 1: Piskakucho (. Km 82) - Huayllabamba
