Barcelona - A Running Tour of the Catalan Capital
Barcelona - A Running Tour of the Catalan Capital - Whilst in Barcelona for a few days break, I got up early one morning and took the camera out to film some of the sights.
I ran through the Gothic Quarter and past Barcelona Cathedral. Then I turned left and ran down Via Laietana to Port Vell and along to La Rambla De Mar. Passing the Columbus Monument (Mirador de Colom) I ran up Avenue del Parallel to the Barcelona Arena and the Font de Magica at the foot of Montjuic. I ran up Montjuic to the Olympic Stadium and on up to Montjuic Castle, then back down the other side past the Columbus Monument again and up one of the most famous streets in the world, La Rambla.

Barcelona, City Tour by Bus, Red Line - Spain 4K Travel Channel
A city tour by bus is the perfect way to get an overview of Barcelona. Barcelona bus Touristic offers three lines: The blue line runs through the northwestern area of Barcelona. The red line drives mainly through the center, the harbor and to the Montjuic
The green line travels around the northern coastal area of Barcelona
With the ticket for the open-top double decker bus you also receive discount coupons. The journeys with the blue and red line take approx 2 hours each, with the green line approx 40 minutes. Via a multi-lingual audio guide you get information about the sights along the route. It is a great advantage that one can hop off at every stop to have a closer look at interesting places. Afterwards you hop on a next bus to continue your journey. Depending on the season of the frequency is between 5 and 25 minutes.
Join us on our trips with the red line
Here also, the bus starts at the Placa de Catalunya. The main stops are at the main station - Estación de Sants, the Placa de Espania, the MNAC - Museu National d'Art de Catalunya, the Olympic site Anella Olimpica, the cableway -Teleferic de Montjuic.
From here it goes to the harbor with stops at the World Trade Center, the Port Vell and Port Olimpic.
About the Pla de Palau, the bus arrives in Barri Gotic, the oldest district of Bercelona.

Barcelona running tips
Here are the Barcelona running tips you need. I give you a few problems to avoid and 3 staggering solutions. You need an amazing run today.
Keep in mind that the sunrise in Barcelona is over the sea. We don't get those afternoon, California sunsets over the Pacific that everyone loves. So go early, maybe 6am.
You avoid the crowded center and the awful traffic. The center is crowded most of the year.
The two best route solutions are obvious: the 10k strip along the beach and Montjuic, the hill (mountain?) on the edge of the city. Both are perfect for the sunrise. Both are safe and runner friendly. Just run at either and you will locate it. You can do it.
Another option is The Carretera de les Aigües. It’s a fire road cut about half-way up the foothills that ring the city. This is back behind the city so you have stellar views and an amazing sunrise. Image pine trees and wild flowers (some of which bloom in the middle of the summer). Local everything up there. You can get there by public transportation. Go to the Sarria neighborhood and go one stop past that. Then a cable car up. Okay, getting there is a little painful but worth it!
Also, there is an untouched nature reserves behind those same foot hills. It’s called Collserolla. You can get a trail run or day hike. You probably need a car to get there.
Born to run.

Running tips for WOMEN in Barcelona Is it safe?
Running Tips for women. Is Barcelona safe to run alone? Yes.
Barcelona is one of the safest cities I know of. It’s certainly safer than a lot of American cities. I don’t think I have heard of almost any violent street crime.
There is a pickpocket problem, but you’re going to out run that.
I would be street smart. Don’t go running in the middle of the night. The Raval area can be a little sketchy in the middle of the night.
Otherwise you should be fine. Run during normal hours, early morning to early evening and you should be totally fine. Running along the beach is fine though anywhere in the tourist area gets crowded. Plan to walk through dense patches of people. The further out you go along the beach, the better it is. There is a board walk and then trails as far as you can see. Enjoy.
Everything I am saying is especially in the center during tourist season. There will be areas where you can’t run! Be warned.
The traffic is also pretty gnarly. I’d try to stay out of the streets.
I often run on the sidewalks of lesser known neighborhoods or use running as a way to go “look around” the city for new places.
You can do it!
