SPICE PLANTS
Occupying an enormous area of 130 acres, 60 acres of this area is exclusively devoted to the cultivation of Spices, Fruits, Medicinal trees and Herbs. This Organic Spice Farm is reputed for the various types of Spices grown in a systematic and scientific manner.


ENTERTAINMENT
Besides the guided tour in the Spice plantation, Sahakari Spice Farm offers its guests other modes of entertainment, some of which they can opt to avail of.

* FOLK DANCES Traditional Dances such as Fugdi, Jagor and Dhalo are performed by lady workers and children from the farm. These dances are performed in the premises of the farm itself and are filled with colour and excitement.

* SWINGING IN BETWEEN TREES During the tour, the guests are given a demonstration on how to climb the tall Bettle-nut palms and then the art of swinging from these palms is shown. Any guest willing to try out this feat is given an opportunity, which brings about a lot of fun and excitement.

* ELEPHANT WASHING AND RIDING Added attraction to Spice Farm are three Elephants, male, female and baby. Separate arrangements are made for Washing and Riding.


RESTAURANT
Our Restaurant at the farm is of unique nature set up amongst well maintained vegetation, the Restaurant has been designed in a very rustic manner, wherein the guests are able to relax in a very natural atmosphere, typical to what the farm has to offer. Roof of Coconut Palms, Benches made of wooden planks, serving bowls of coconut shells, the fragrance of rich spices, the chirping of birds, all this and more constitute this calm and relaxing environment. There is ample of seating place in the restaurant and a provision for privacy is also made in the form of separate huts. Lunch in the restaurant is served in earthen pots and is eaten in plates specially made of Banana leaves.

..At the outset, I did not have much expectation about the place and thought it was another place to capitalize on the tourist surge. However, my perception turned wrong with the kind of warm welcome that was accorded with a tilak and garland, a welcome drink (warm tea) and some cheeselets. A guide takes us through the place in groups of about 10 people around the 1.5 kms walk. Starting with different kinds of spice plants and explaining its medicinal properties, its a good treat for those who love nature and natural foods. The lunch is included in the 400 INR package and is surely worth the effort. Food is good and the spread is decent.

..The spice farms is a must visit place for tourists touring the state. The Spice Gardens boast of a serene and relaxed atmosphere with an aroma of a varied spices. Guests are greeted warmly with a home made welcome drink. The aroma of spices grown there - Nutmeg, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Betel nut, Pepper, Chillies fills the air. The visitors are taken on a tour of the garden where the guides explain about the type of spices,their uses and medicinal value of each. These Spice plantations practice organic farming.They also grow fruits like Cashew, Banana, Pineapple.

Afternoon lunch is served in earthen pots on banana leaves.It comprises of a traditional meal like rice, fish curry and locally grown vegetables.Fruits are served for dessert. Guests are given a demonstration on the art of climbing and swinging the Betel nut palms.Also traditional folk dances are performed.Since most farms are near the lakeside, guests can indulge in fishing or boating or birdwatching. Cashew nut processing and vanilla processing are carried. An added attraction is the Elephant washing and the elephant rides.The Highlights of these places are the varied spices and the organic farming.
