Hobson's Choice 2017 - Audition to Performance : Pt1
A Journey from Audition to Performance
This is the first part of my Vlog from my time playing Alice Hobson in 'Hobson's Choice' as part of the 2017 Stamford Shakespeare Company Season at Rutland Open Air Theatre, Tolethorpe Hall.
2018 plays are well underway rehearsing (more on that...) but this was a good way to look back at a great 8 months of preparation and performance!
In 2018 I'm in 'The Merchant of Venice', the other shows are 'The Merry Wives of Windsor' & 'School for Scandal'. For more information and to buy tickets go to :
Every summer more than 34,000 people from throughout the UK and from overseas attend the Stamford Shakespeare Company’s acclaimed summer season of plays in June, July and August at the Rutland Open Air Theatre, Tolethorpe Hall.
Performances take place on an open air stage set within an enchanting woodland glade facing a 600-seat, raked, and permanently covered auditorium. The Stage newspaper described it as “one of England’s premier alfresco theatre venues” and The Sunday Times described a visit here as being “one of the finest things to do this summer”. In addition to the recognised high standard of performances the theatre is known for the quality of all its facilities, making it one of the finest open air theatres in Europe

Medwell's Quarry in Rutland, six miles north-east of Stamford, and renowned as a source of stone for architectural restoration. After blasting to remove the hard surface stone, all the work of extraction, splitting and shaping the white limestone is done laboriously by hand, the only mechanical aids being a hand-turned crane for lifting, horse-drawn trucks running on Jubilee track for on-site transport, and a steam lorry.
