Camber Sands
Camber, located east of the ancient town of Rye, has over 2 miles of award winning beach, and much of it is golden sands! It is home to the only sand dune system in East Sussex, which provides a valuable natural habitat to many animals and plants.
Access to the beach is direct from a number of public car parks. The unbroken length and quality of both beach and sea water enable Camber Sands to accommodate almost every type of beach activity.
To make the beach a safe environment for the family the beach is zoned to separate activities such as kite surfing from more traditional beach users.

Jellyfish and weever fish
At certain times of the year in Camber, usually during periods of prolonged warm weather. Jellyfish and Weever fish are found in shallower waters in increased quantities. Bathers and swimmers should take care to avoid contact with these as they can sting. We advise that footwear is worn whilst bathing. In most cases Jellyfish stings are mild.
If someone has been stung by a jellyfish, do not rub the affected area as this will make the pain worse. Lightly spray the area with seawater and apply a cold compress or ice if it's available. For weever fish stings, the RNLI's advice is to place the affected area in water as hot as is comfortable, making sure you test the water first so you don't burn the person who has been stung.
In rare circumstances people may experience an allergic reaction to a sting and they should then seek medical assistance as soon as possible.
Dog control information
Dogs are not permitted in zoned areas between 1 May and 30 September.

Camber Sands ...a dog friendly beach
Dogs love the beach at Camber Sands, in fact we think it's the best beach in the world, but then we are probably biased. Take a look for yourselves at the miles of open sandy beach and dunes that await exploring by you and your dog.
Dogs are allowed on the beach all year round, between 1st May and 30th September certain restrictions apply but the beach is so vast that there is still ample space to enjoy the freedom of being off the lead, in the sea, on the beach and in the dunes.
Dogs are welcome to stay at The Salty Dog, in fact positively encouraged!
