It was initially a Botanical garden, which is now converted into a park.
It is a thickly wooded park with a variety of trees and flowering plants.

Lonavala is a hill station surrounded by green valleys in western India near Mumbai. The Karla Caves and the Bhaja Caves are ancient Buddhist shrines carved out of the rock. They feature massive pillars and intricate relief sculptures. South of the Bhaja Caves sits the imposing Lohagad Fort, with its 4 gates. West of here is Bhushi Dam, where water overflows onto a set of steps during rainy season.

Rajmachi Point
Rajmachi Point is located about 6.5 km from Lonavla. This point commands a view of Shivaji maharaj's fort, Rajmachi (Royal terrakouioce) and the surrounding valley. Regular State Transport buses ply between Rajmachi Point and Lonavla from the State Transport Bus Stand. The Vaghjai Dari is also located here.
Ryewood Park & Shivaji Udyan
This is an extensive garden situated in Lonavla. The garden has a number of tall trees - some of which are very old.[citation needed] There is an old Shiva temple in the park.
Valvan Dam
Valvan Dam is a Britisher built garden and is more than a century old. This dam has a garden at the foot of its wall, and is a popular evening spot 2 km from the town.[citation needed]The dam supplies water to the Khopoli power station at the foothills of the Sahyadris for generating electricity. The Kundali River feeds into the dam's reservoir.
Della Adventure Park
Della is India’s largest adventure park situated in popular Lonavala hill station. It is a very big theme park cum resort. It also serves as a corporate training destination for companies in Mumbai & Pune. The park has spread over an area of 36 acres. It is located at about 3000 feet height above MSL (mean sea level). Della adventure offers close to 52 adventure activities.
Lonavla Lake
Lonavla Lake is surrounded by natural scenery, about 1.6 km from the town. The lake dries up during the winter and summer months offering an expanse of green grass which is used by walkers and joggers.[citation needed] This place attracts tourists for its street food,[citation needed]including convenience food items like smoked corn on the cob, shaved ice (gola), vada pav, chaat, and hot ginger tea.

Lonavala :-
It is a hill station surrounded by lots of natural beauty, best time to visit Lonavala is monsoon time, but you wont be disappointed with the beauty in off season as well.
It is about 64 kilometres (40 mi) west of modern-day Pune city and 96 kilometres (60 mi) from the city of Mumbai. To reach there you can take public transport like buses, auto, cabs. I explored Lonavala via cab which costs around 1200/-
Places visited -
Lion point:- Lions point located in Aamby valley Road . It Doesn't have lion, but its named so because of its association with the Lion club of Lonavala.
Bhushi Dam:- Timing 9AM - 5 PM, Vehicles are subsequently banned from entering the area after 3 PM & visitors are prohibited from entering the dam & surrounding after 5 PM, entry is FREE!!!!
Ryewood park:- If you wish to spend some quality time relaxing among the natural surroundings, head out to this park. There is a small Shiva temple situated inside this park. The spacious open spaces makes this place an ideal among children.

1.Karla Caves

A weekend getaway, just 96 kilometers from Mumbai, Lonavala is a hill station that is surrounded by greenery. One can escape the hustle and bustle of the city by simply spending an afternoon by a waterfall or perhaps relax by the famous Lonavala Bushi dam. One of the best seasons to visit Lonavala is during the Monsoons.
Lonavala tourist places include many of Lonavala's waterfalls, Tiger Point, Pawna Lake, Tungarli Lake, the Lonavala water park, Ryewood Park.

Bhaja Caves (Bhaje Caves) | An ancient Buddhist Heritage near Lonavala
Bhaja Caves ( Bhaje Caves ) located near Lonavala about 400 feet above Bhaja village is a collection of 22 rock-cut caves dating back to the 2nd century BC.
The Bhaja caves are protected as a Monument of National Importance, by the Archaeological Survey of India.
The most prominent excavation and one of the earliest of the type is its chaityagrha (or Cave XII) which is 26 feet 8 inches wide and 59 feet long, It consists of an apsidal hall with a Stupa.
The chaityagrha has a curved ceiling, shaped like a horseshoe and wooden architecture.
There are a total of fourteen Stupas, which form a notable part of the monument.
These caves have Stone benches, square windows and stone beds inside it.
There is a Shiva linga carved out of stone, in one of the caves.
There are guardian figures of Lord Surya riding a chariot and Lord Indra riding on an elephant on both sides of the door.
There is a waterfall near the last cave.
TO REACH BHAJA CAVES
You can visit Bhaja Caves easily from Pune or Mumbai as trains are available from both places.
Aprrox distance from Lonavala to Bhaja Caves – 15 KM
Aprrox distance from Pune to Bhaja Caves – 79 KM
Aprrox distance from Mumbai to Bhaja Caves – 95 KM
From Pune take the NH4 (old Mumbai-Pune highway) towards Mumbai, few kilometres before Lonavala, you should see an exit on the left towards Bhaja/Malavali and on the Mumbai-Pune expressway take left diversion (from Pune side) at Malavli.
At the top, you need to pay Rs 25 as entry ticket (If you are Indian citizen) and Rs. 250 - 300 for International visitors.
These rates may get revised every couple of year.

Top 10 Places To Visit In Maharashtra
1. Mumbai Formerly known as ‘Bombay’, is the most populated city in India. The name Mumbai is derived from Mumba or Maha-Amba. Adventurous Alive, On the Move, Vibrant, Fun, land of dreams- this is Mumbai. The city that we see today is a collection of 7 islands which were joined into a single metropolitan through land reclamation techniques in the 18th century under the rule of the British East India Company. It is home to the famous Indian film industry - Bollywood. To explore all the attractions in this city alone you need more than a week's time.
2. Aurangabad This place was named after the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and is one of the famous tourist places in Maharashtra. It is famous for its historical monuments and the ancient caves of Ajanta and Ellora which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It was recently declared as the Tourism Capital of Maharashtra. Aurangabadi food is much like Mughlai or Hyderabadi cuisine, with an influence of the spices and herbs of the Marathwada region. Naan Qalia is a dish that is associated with Aurangabad.
3. Kolhapur The name Kolhapur is said to have been given after the name of some Asura. Mahalaxmi Temple draws millions of pilgrims from all over India and is an important spiritual centre. The New Palace (Chhatrapati Sahu Museum), The Old Palace, The Town Hall Museum, Binkhambi Ganesh Mandir, Rankala Lake are other places of attraction. The kolhapuri slippers and it's cuisine is famous, a Kolhapuri mutton dish is a must if you ever visit this place.
4. Mahabaleshwar Mahabaleshwar in Sanskrit means ‘God of Great Power’. It is the source of the Krishna River that flows across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.The Venna lake is one of the major tourist attractions of Mahabaleshwar. The lake is surrounded by trees on all sides, near the lake, further down the road on the way to Panchgani, are the great strawberry fields. Mount Malcolm, Holy Cross Church, Mahabaleshwar Club and Pratapgad Fort are other places of attraction.
5. Pune It is the cultural capital of Maharashtra. It has one of India's oldest universities and its numerous colleges attract both Indian and international students, this is probably the reason why it is called the Oxford of the East. Shaniwar Wada, this historic seven-storied palace was built by Bajirao Peshwa I. Osho Ashram, Shinde Chhatri, Saras Baug, Pataleshwer Cave Temple and Katraj Snake Park are other places to visit.
6. Matheran It is located at an elevation of approximately 800 meters above sea level. The city is famous for its cool and less humid climate and is a popular summer retreat. There are altogether around 30 points, 2 lakes, 2 parks, 4 major worship places and a racecourse to visit inside Matheran.
7. Alibag The original name of this place was Ramnath, it was developed by Sarkhel Kanhoji Aangre unde the Maratha Ruler Shivaji. It is a coastal town and is famous for its white sandy and cleaner beaches. Eye soothing greenery with coconut trees standing in Queue near Quick sandy beaches make it a pleasant view. Alibag also houses a Magnetic Observatory which was set up in 1904. It serves as one of the significant observatories forming part of a global network now run by Indian Institute of Geomagnetism. Alibag beach, Siddheshwar Mandir near Khandale, Alibag Fort, Bet El Synagogue are a must visit
8. Khandala and Lonavla The twin hill resorts of Khandala and Lonavala have a special attraction for a crowd seeking a convenient weekend holiday. The city is easily accessible and is a popular hiking getaway near Mumbai. Bhushi Dam, Valvan Dam, Kaivalyadhama Yoga Hospital, Duke’s Nose, Ryewood Park, Tiger’s Leap are some of the places of attraction.
9. Nashik It is located on the banks of the river Godavari, its holy temples and sites including the famous pilgrimage centre of Shirdi and a long connection with India's sacred past, has made it a spiritually enlightened place. It is one of the cities that host the Kumbha Mela of India once every 12 years. This city has tourist attractions including museums, gardens and a large number of ancient Temples which are sacred and have been regarded highly important in Hindu mythology. It is part of the green belt and is renowned for the various fruits and vegetables it produces.

Ratnagiri It has some of the most beautiful beaches, Ratnagiri is also home to historic monuments and serene temples.The place contains several different breathtaking natural phenomena like the Rajapur Ganga which is a collection of 14 pools of water which appear almost once in every 3 years. Ratnagiri is home to Alphonso mango. Pawas and Ganpatipule beach 20 kms on opposite sides offer as a great picnic spots.
