Ryotan-ji or Ryotanji is among the three major temples of the Rinzai Myoshin-ji sect. Tamba Kokubun-ji Kameoka - Kyoto - 仏教寺院 - 4K Ultra HD
A remnant of a once larger temple from the Jodo sect and first built during the 8th century, Tamba Kokubun-ji is one of many Kameoka City major cultural properties as well as been designated a national historical site. Too often ignore by tourists, foreign or not, Tamba Kokubun-ji is a gorgeous little temple where time stands still.
Inside Kokubunji Temple grows a native ginkgo tree which has earned the name of Chichi Icho (Mother's Breast Ginkgo) and has long inspired the devout worship of women. Because this tree has been known to attach its seeds to its leaves, it is also called the Ohatsuki Icho (Leaf-sticking Ginkgo).

Kyoto Event: Light Festival at Shimogamo Shrine (Tadasu no Mori) [4K]
Many people look forward to light-ups held at Kyoto's gorgeous shrines and temples that allow visitors to visit after dark, but recently Shimogamo Shrine blew the rest away as the host of an incredibly anticipated art installation! Held from August 17th - 31st, 2016, Light Festival in Tadasu no Mori at the World Heritage of Shimogamo Shrine, Kyoto was created by the illustrious teamLab, who are known for their interactive and immersive art projects using digital technology. Made up of two parts, the Restonating Forest in the Tadasu no Mori outside the shrine buildings (free) and the Resonating Spheres just within the Rōmon Gate (500 yen), this light festival was a big hit with Kyoto locals and tourists both. Soft lights and sound illuminated the path between the torii and the shrine's iconic two-storied gate, and passing through showed visitors a whole new world populated with glowing spheres that reacted to the music and the touch of a hand. Resonating spheres floated just above head-height all about the shrine's courtyard and hovered in two of the open-wallwed halls, bathing visitors in the mystic glow designed to bring them awareness of other living creatures with which they share their space. If we are lucky, teamLab will bring another of their gorgeous art installations to Kyoto again soon!

Kyoto Jojuji Temple - 浄住寺 - 4K Ultra HD
Kyoto Jojuji Temple - 浄住寺 - 4K Ultra HD : Jojuji may not be the most visited temple in Kyoto, nor the biggest in size, but thanks to its unique entrance, Jojuji offers, especially in autumn, one of Kyoto’s most magical Momiji (red maple leaves) experiences. And to be fair, and at least for us at TokyoStreetView, Jojuji is exactly what Kyoto is all about; a small and secluded, but truly fantastic, Zen temple that has yet to be too populated by tourists.

Tamba Kameyama Castle Ruins Park - Kyoto -亀山城 - 4K Ultra HD
Located in the center of Kameoka (Kyoto) you will find the ruins of the Tamba Kameyama Castle. It was built in 1578 by Akechi Mitsuhide as the headquarters for his attacks on the Tanba area. In 1609, Tokugawa Ieyasu, who controlled the area, worked in renovating this castle and used it as well as his HQ for attacks on Osaka Castle.
Now in ruins, there is nothing left of the castle. The whole ground has been owned by the Oomoto religious sect since 1919! Also, according to this very same sect, this place is their second most important spiritual center and now has the official name of Ten'on-kyo or the Birthplace of Heavenly Benevolence.
Despite its current condition and being part of a religious sect, the Tamba Kameyama Castle ruins feature a nice park that is worth visiting during the autumn foliage. If you happen to be around Kameoka in autumn make sure to check this place out!

Places to Go: The Togetsukyō Bridge
A classic symbol of the Arashiyama area, the Togetsukyō Bridge is often the first sight that visitors head to see when they arrive. Spanning the Katsura River (also called the Oi River or Hozu River depending on the area) the bridge offers a splendid view up and down the river which varies dramatically from season to season. With Mt. Arashi serving as a backdrop, visitors can enjoy cherry blossoms, vibrant summer greens, and colorful autumn leaves on the mountain slope. On the Oi River side you can watch people in small rental boats paddle about, or take part yourself. The Togetsukyō (Moon Crossing Bridge) takes its name from the romantic notions of Emperor Kameyama in the 14th century, who noted that throughout the night it seemed like the moon was making its way across the bridge.

Yamada Onsen - Nagano - 山田温泉- 4K Ultra HD
Yamada Onsen is an onsen (hot spring) village located in Nagano and is famous for its many ryokans. Like many onsen villages Yamada Onsen does not offer much however, we could argue that this is what exactly what onsen villages are designed to be; a place where you can relax and enjoy nature in the comfort of one of its many ryokan. Like Fujiiso ryokan where my family and I stayed for a few days in order to unwind.

4K 空撮 京都亀岡龍潭寺 里山の風景美 人と自然の狭間 Border of Life and Nature.Satoyama Kyoto

Small in size, this temple comes with many little wonders in the form of four different gardens with the Syoryu Garden, Shyumisen Garden, Mansho Garden and Kanuntei Garden (cloud view garden), which is a beautiful dry landscape garden where the lines represent the clouds and where the rocks represent the mountains.

Towada Shrine - Aomori - 十和田神社 - 4K Ultra HD
Located by lake Towada right in the center of Aomori prefecture, this Shinto shrine is recognized as a holy place in Aomori. Built according to the authorities in 807, Towada Shrine was previously famous as being dedicated to the god of water, Azure Dragon, known as Seiryu in Japanese. However, today, the shrine now honors Yamato Takeru who was a legendary Japanese prince in the Yamato dynasty and the son of Emperor Keiko.
What makes Towada Shrine so special, besides its vibrant history, is by far its amazing forest path known as Suginami, a shortened version of the word from the Edo period “Suginamiki”, which can be translated as avenue of Cedars.

Located not too far from Kosho-ji, and in the northern hills of Uji City, Mimuroto-ji (Mimurotoji), also known as the flower temple, was founded roughly 1,200 years ago. It features not only a gorgeous three-tiered pagoda, but also a nicely designed main hall, built in the early 1800s that houses an image of the thousand-armed Kannon Bodhisattva. Also on display there is a statue of an ox and a rabbit. Touching the stone ball in the ox's mouth is believed to lead to victories in your endeavors, while reaching your hands into the stone sphere in front of the rabbit, is supposed to grant your wish, but only if you manage to put on equilibrium the egg- shaped object found in the sphere.
