The Kakezuka Festival is a festival held at the beginning of October every year at Kifune Shrine (Tenryu River estuary) in Kaketsuka, Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The music (Hayashi) is designated as a prefecture intangible folk cultural asset.
Kakezuka Pass prospered as a commercial port from Edo to the middle of Meiji. The Kaketsuka Festival, which conveys its history and prays for maritime safety, draws gorgeous stalls while playing Kyoto-style eggplants.
The story of the port town is well communicated, such as the dedication of Urayasu dances and prayer to the shrine, which prayed for maritime safety.
The floats from the nine towns of Kaketsuka are all luxurious, including those with total lacquering and embroidery embroidered with gold leaf, gold thread and bronze, and precise sculpture by renowned sculptors.
