Old(in Edo-period) farmer-team had made rocket carving pine-tree wood purpose of celebrate
Shrine-Muku (japanese god) and send up . Every year in autum (October) this festival is held.
This year jointed 30teams.

龍勢祭り Ryusei Festival was held in Yoshida, Chichibu city, Saitama prefecture, Japan on October 12th, 2008. Ryusei Festival is very traditional over 400 years and unique festival, where rockets are dedicated to the Muku Shrine.

Chichibu Night Festival
(秩父夜祭, Chichibu Yomatsuri)
It is held every year on December 2 and 3.
Its floats are ornately decorated with lanterns,
tapestries and gilded wood carvings and are
accompanied by drum and flute music.
The festival's other attraction is its fireworks
display, which lasts almost two and a half hours
and gives you the rare opportunity to enjoy
Japanese fireworks during winter.
Additionally, the streets are lined with stands
selling festival foods and amazake (sweet rice
wine) to combat the cold December night.
From 19:30 to 22:00 a long, spread out fireworks
display is held, which can be seen from many
places around town.

6:30 a.m. breakfast at the Kumagaya King Ambassador Hotel. A little BURA-BURA, the long way to the train station. Then on to Chichibu town – about 70 minutes on the local train. As I was leaving the Ohanabatake station, an old train, revived to provide “romantic” trips passed by. Today’s festivities are preliminary to the main festivities on Dec 3. They show off the floats, move a few of them around town, have some dancing on the stages of the bigger floats. The drums and fife music are piped in many stores. I met “K & J” around 4 p.m., went BURA-BURA around looking for the lanterns on the floats to be lit and fireworks. Was told the floats were to be lit on Dec 3 and tonight’s fireworks was gonna be a small show. Got tired waiting so had dinner and caught the 70-minute train back to Kumagaya.
