Ryusendo Cave ( Iwaizumi Town )
Ryusendo Cave is one of the Three Great Limestone Caves in Japan and a national natural monument. The portion of the cave which has been explored stretches over 3,100 meters; if unexplored areas are included, the entire cave is estimated to be over 5,000 meters in length. You can take a tour of the cave, which takes about 30 minutes. In the cave, fresh spring water forms deep underground lakes; the most impressive is the third lake, with a depth of 98 meters and beautiful emerald-green water. Though it is not included in the tour, the fourth lake is the deepest underground lake in Japan ( 120 meters ) and one of the most transparent lakes in the world. You can also see unique formations such as stalactites and stalagmites, as well as rare long-eared bats. In December 2009, underwater exploration beyond the third lake was conducted for the first time in 41 years.
The Ryusenshindo Science Museum
Ryusenshindo Cave is a 450-meter limestone cave discovered in 1967, which is used as a museum. The Ryusenshindo Science Museum is the first natural cave science museum in the world, with displays of earthenware and stoneware discovered inside the cave, as well as materials on speleology, geology, biology, and archaeology.

I walked along the coast again. From the morning the sky is cloudy and it rains. Because of the rain, Iwate's recording becomes thicker. Ryusendo is a cave built naturally. It is a cave with beautiful water from ancient times. It is also familiar to the area. Entering Ryusendo cave, one of Japan's three major limestone caves, is a mysterious space Is unfolded. Clear water rises in the inside of the cave, and there are several springs. The area inside the cave is only 3.6 km from the survey site. The survey is still being conducted, and the total length is expected to be more than 5 km. The third submarine, 98 meters below sea level, is purple to the point of seeing from afar. It is surprising that there is a mysterious nature in a closed cave. What should I say, should I say that it was overwhelmed by the size of nature? I was impressed by this beautiful world. Stalactite, which takes 50 years to grow 1cm. For a long time, nature produces works of art. When I see stalactites that have lived for tens of thousands of years, I realize how foolish the human greed can not live for a hundred years.

Exploring the Blue Caves of Ryusendo
Hey guys. We're here in Iwaizumi Town in Iwate Prefecture at Ryusendo Cave. It's considered one of the Three Great Limestone Caves in Japan so let's find out why.
The entire network of caves runs about 5,000 meters (16,404 ft) but we can only explore 700 of them.
One of the most interesting points of the cave is the final lake, which actually goes 98 meters (321.5 ft) deep. You can almost see to the bottom of it—it's that clear.

AAJ Adventures: Jodogahama
Jodogahama (浄土ヶ浜) translates to Pure Land's Beach or Heaven's Beach, and it's not at all hard to imagine why. This pristine coastline, filled with visually stunning jagged rock formations, will take your breath away. Join Wendell, our Managing Editor, who is stepping away from his desk in Tokyo to see it for himself (and play with seagulls).
[TRIPofJHL] Trip to Ondal Cave in Danyang
Ondal Cave is one of wonderful caves in Danyang-gun.
- The total length is around 760m.
- With an imagination, they gave names on rocks, stalagmites, stalactites, etc. There are shapes of a dragon, an elephant, peaks, a turtle and so on.
- This cave has both of spacious areas and narrow areas.
- For a visitor's safety, a helmet is essential during the tour.
- Plenty of water flows next to visitors' trail. That differentiates this cave from others in Danyang.
Any living creature can be hardly seen in the water. Almost impossible for tourists.
- They estimate this cave has been formed since about 450 million years ago.
- The name 'Ondal' came from the general of the Kingdom of Goguryeo in 6th century. Because there's Ondal Fortress nearby built upon his order.
- This cave formerly called as Namgul(南窟) or Seongsangul(城山窟) in the history.
- Stalactites on ceiling and stalagmites on ground slowly grow and become stone pillars after a long period of time.

The Region
Guangxi is an autonomous region in southern China bordering Vietnam, about the same size as the state of Minnesota. The area is known for its rivers, lakes, caves, and Karst formations. Cruises on the Li Jiang River connect Guilin and Yangshuo, two cities punctuated by toothlike Karst peaks. Guilin is the site of Ludi Yan (Reed Flute Cave), a limestone cavern noted for its stalagtites and stalagmites. It is one of the most famous “Karst Topography” in China and much like the province of Quintana Roo, Mexico, it is like swiss cheese and has a ton of caves. The local people say it's like you have a lot of sunroofs in your house.
