RYUZU FALLS - DRAGON FALLS NIKKO JAPAN 竜頭ノ滝
Join us as we take a look at what we believe to be the best waterfall in Nikko. Ryuzu Falls means dragon head waterfall in Japanese. The name comes from the shape of the falls, which resembles the head of a dragon. The waterfall is located on Yukawa River, shortly before the river discharges into Lake Chuzenji.

The spectacular waterfall is called Yudaki . From Yudaki starts the attractive Senjogahara Plateau Nature Trail, leading along Yukawa River through the woods and across the marshland of the Senjogahara Plateau to Ryuzu Waterfall at the shores of Lake Chuzenji.

Kegon Waterfall Nikko - 1 of 3 most beautiful waterfall in Japan
The almost 100 meter tall Kegon Waterfall (華厳の滝, Kegon no taki) is the most famous of Nikko's many beautiful waterfalls. In fact, it is even ranked as one of Japan's three most beautiful falls. Kegon Waterfall is the only exit for the waters of Lake Chuzenji. It can be seen from a free observation platform that is easily accessible on foot, as well as from a paid platform at the base of the falls. The paid platform is accessed via a 100 meter deep elevator and offers more impressive views.

Kegon Falls (華厳滝 Kegon Taki?) is located at Lake Chūzenji (source of the Oshiri River) in Nikkō National Park near the city of Nikkō, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. The falls were formed when the Daiya River was rerouted by lava flows. The main falls had a height of approximately 97 metres (318 ft) and about twelve smaller waterfalls are situated behind and to the sides of Kegon Falls, leaking through the many cracks between the mountain and the lava flows.
In the autumn, the traffic on the road from Nikko to Chūzenji can sometimes slow to a crawl as visitors come to see the fall colors.
In 1927, the Kegon Falls was recognized as one of the Eight Views which best showed Japan and its culture in the Shōwa period.It is also listed as one of the Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls, in a listing published by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment in 1990.
The Kegon Falls are infamous for suicides, especially among Japanese youth.

Back of the nikko is called Oku-nikko area. In Oku-nikko area, there is Kegon Falls. I wonder lots of foreign people visit Kegon Falls, however, they do not visit Lake Chuzenji, Senjogahara and Yumoto Onsen. So, let me show about them. Especially I like Yumoto Onsen, means Nikko Yumoto Spa.
Best season for visiting Nikko are both late fall and early summer. This video is taken in early summer.
