LAMELO BALL TO JOIN LEBRON JAMES' OLD HIGH SCHOOL!? | LEAVING JBA LEAGUE FOR OHIO HS!
SUBSCRIBE TO MY SECOND CHANNEL (SOCCER/FOOTBALL)
So a few hours ago, a report came up from absolute nowhere, breaking that Lamelo ball was leaving the JBA mid international tour, and will return to high school basketball in the United States. This came from reporter Jonas Miklovas. Who also confirmed Lamelo will specifically play in the state of ohio, and will most likely attend St.Vincent St.Mary’s. The famous high school LeBron James attended once upon a time. Which obviously rulls out a potential return to Chino Hills, The report that he had flown back home was confirmed by JBA USA teammate Jerrell springer, and then further confirmed via Lamelo’s insta story. With a caption that rounded off ‘feels good to be home’
So upon this being brought to my attention by a source, I checked up with JBA insider Brandon Williams. Who I asked for some confirmation before reporting on the story. Williams told me while the report isn’t innacurate, there’s more to the story than what he’s mentioned. And that the JBA will release a full statement clearing up everything that’s been going around on social media.
With lamelo parting ways with the JBA usa team, short term it’ll be a major blow to the JBA and how many people watch their tour. Even with his older brother there, Lamelo was undoubtedly the biggest attraction of the tour, and the jba league as a whole, with many including myself believing that he could be drafted into the NBA, For now It's quite confusing why he decided to leave midway through the jba tour, which has only had games planned until December 2018. With the timing considered, I speculate this move might’ve been in the works for some time now. But Lavar wanted to hold out until last weekend’s game against the London Lions. Perhaps the most anticipated game of the tour, before sending him back to the states just days later.
Although going back to facing high school opponents will be a downgrade from some of the teams he's faced on tour, Melo will be able to prove himself against his players his own age. Which will be more important for his draft stock moving forward. Despite only a few years back being a top 10 recruit of his class, ESPN recently excluded him for their listed 2020 mock draft, Which is most likely because he hasn't played a game in an organized setting in over a year, and was probably not getting the level of attention, respect & exposure from NBA scouts the family would’ve expected. Partially comes down to dominating unorganized exhibition games sponsored by his dad's league. Instead of the common, traditional route for the vast majority of NBA prospects come up from.
Returning to high school in the US will also help him return to the public eye, with constant exposure on big youtube channels like Ballislife. Which essentially put the brothers on the map back at Chino Hills. It may make him eligible for the mcdonald's all-american game, which is nationally televised. The jba tour wasn't getting any attention from major mainstream media outlets, a far cry from the start of their first lithuania stint. Another factor could be just to provide more content and change of scene for Ball In The Family, their reality TV show.
Most importantly, the specific school that lamelo will move to remains unclear. The decision to move to Ohio is an interesting one, which doesn't provide the same platform as high school basketball in the Los Angeles area. It's led to the speculation that suggest he’ll attend St. Vincent-St. Mary's in Akron, maybe the most well-known program in the state. It’s not impossible that LeBron, who’s now playing with Lonzo on the Lakers. May have been involved one or another assuming that’s where Melo goes. Another plausible option would be SPIRE Institute, a sports academy in Geneva, Ohio that is home to a number of top high school recruits, including Rocket Watts, who’s the #1 player in Ohio also in lamelo's class of 2019. 7'7 high schooler Robert Bobroczky is on the team also. The advantage here is that it would be largely focused on developing Melo as an athlete instead of academically. It is also possible that lavar could chose an unknown high school program like the pre-Ball bro’s chino hills. Whose coach would let him have some sort of control of the team?

LaMelo Ball is returning to high school. Here’s what that means.
After a year removed from high school playing professionally overseas, talented basketball player and former ESPN Top-100 recruit LaMelo Ball is set to make his return stateside. Ball will return to the United States to play high school basketball at Spire Institute in Ohio, according to SLAM’s Franklyn Calle.
