GOODBYE MY FRIENDS! - Sapa Vietnam
We complete our journey trekking through the Hmong villages of Lao Cai and Tavan. Honestly one of the most memorable travel experiences I've ever had with some amazing companions. Big thanks to Sue and her family for the unforgettable homestay experience, even if I was totally smashed and puked off of rice wine.
If you're looking for the perfect homestay, I highly recommend adding 'Sapa Trekking Sue' via Facebook. You won't regret it.

Day 31: HUMBLED AND AWED. Sapa Valley trek and Hmong village stay!
Trip highlight and maybe one of the most memorable travel experiences ever.
Today was a day I'll never forget in my life. With my friend Tien, we took the overnight train from Hanoi to Sa Pa. It's about a 7 hour journey north by rail and then an hour's drive from the station.
We then met Sue, a local guide who comes from one of the Hmong villages in the mountains around Sa Pa. We trekked about 8 hours - with a few stops to enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery, eat some fresh village food and chat with locals.
An already amazing day got even better by night. We stayed in Sue's family home near the Hmong (ethnic minority) village of Lao Chai. It was a typical house for the area, but a very atypical experience for Tien and me. Meals are cooked by fire, showers are heated by fire, everything comes from the land - vegetables, meat, firewood. I've never been so up close to such a contrast between the way I live and the way others live, and it was an incredibly humbling feeling.

Hiking in Sapa - Vietnam Tours
As the tourist capital of Vietnam’s mountainous north, Sapa is one of the best hiking and trekking destinations in Vietnam. The town is surrounded by villages of ethnic minorities, particularly the Red Dao and Black Hmong. Sapa offers breath-taking vistas of mountain scenery and the opportunity to hike out to local ethnic villages to experience something of the traditional way of life.

Trekking my ass off to our Homestay - Sapa, Vietnam
We meet up with our Hmong guide, Sue.... well, actually Sue's mother (who's quite the trekking badass) infront of the ever so famous Holy Rosary Church in Sapa, where we begin our long arduous trek to her homestay.
The trekking experience is unreal, nothing but mountain vibes and beautiful countryside. I highly encourage everyone to definitely take a trip out to Sapa to see the wonders of this place.
