The small old town Saarburg is located in the west of Germany, on the border with Luxembourg. The city is located on the banks of the Saar River in the hilly country. The area around Saarburg is noted for the cultivation of Riesling grapes.The town has not changed the last 3-4 centuries and is mostly built traditional timber framing houses, which attracts large number of tourists. The little old town of Saarburg especially attracts photographers all four seasons.

Stratosphärenflug am Gymnasium Saarburg (Wetterballonflug)
Unsere Stratosphärenflüge am Gymnasium Saarburg:
Versuchsaufbau: Ein heliumgefüllter Wetterballon befördert Kameras, die sich in einer Styroporsonde befinden, in die Stratosphäre. Bei Erreichen der Maximalhöhe (etwa 25-30 km) platzt der Ballon und alles findet dank des zwischen Ballon und Sonde angebrachten Fallschirms sicher den Weg in Richtung Erdboden. In der Box befindet sich außerdem ein GPS-Gerät, welches uns die Koordinaten des Landeorts übermitteln soll, damit wir die Sonde wieder einsammeln können.
Ziel des Ganzen ist die Erlangung von Videoaufnahmen und Fotos von der Erde aus der Stratosphäre, außerdem wurden Messwerte, wie Temperatur, Flugroute, Luftfeuchtigkeit etc. aufgezeichnet.
So die Theorie, in der Praxis sah es an manchen Stellen ein wenig anders aus...
Der GPS Tracker der ersten Sonde war ausgefallen, somit waren wir auf einen ehrlichen Finder angewiesen. Glücklicherweise hat jemand die Sonde entdeckt und uns kontaktiert. Die wahrscheinlichste Ursache ist folgende: Der Akku des TK 102b kann durch starkes Schütteln aus seiner Position gebracht werden. Da der Fall (wie im Video zu sehen) eher unsanft war, ist es sehr wahrscheinlich, dass das Gerät den Kontakt zur Stromquelle verloren hat und sich daraufhin abschaltete.
Die zweite Sonde hatte drei GPS Tracker mit festgeklebten Akkus und unterschiedlichen Sim Karten an Bord. Zusätzlich war noch ein Smartphone mit dabei. Drei der vier Ortungsgeräte funktionierten, ein GPS Tracker fiel wieder aus. Somit konnten wir unsere Sonde beim zweiten Versuch noch am gleichen Tag wieder einsammeln.
Die ganze Aktion wurde im Rahmen der Projektwoche 2014 zum 90-Jährigen Bestehen des Gymnasiums Saarburg durchgeführt und größtenteils von Schülern organisiert.
Drei Tipps von uns, falls ihr auch einen Ballonflug plant:
1. Fixiert den Akku des GPS Trackers. (in unserem Fall mit Klebstreifen)
2. Befestigt einen Abstandhalter zwischen den Fäden des Fallschirms, damit diese sich nicht verheddern und sich der Schirm problemlos öffnen kann.
3. Verlasst euch nicht nur auf einen einzigen GPS-Tracker. (Wenn die Sonde unauffindbar ist, ist das um einiges teurer...)
