Pannzian Beach Community Fishing Pagudpud Ilocos Norte Philippines #TravelDiary 3
Today I experienced and witnessed the community spirit at #Pannzian beach #Pagudpud #Ilocos Norte Philippines. After coming back from seeing Ilocos Norte tourists spots in Pagudpud and going on the longest over water zipline in the world.
I came back to Pannzian Beach Resort for a bit of a rest, around 3 pm I decided to walk on the beach. With luck on my side, the community fishing was about to start. As I walk up the beach, I hear shouting from the distance, this was to signal the neighbourhood that the fishes are around and the fishing will commence immediately. I keep on walking towards the fishing boat, at the same time the locals are running towards the beach. The fishermen used 2 boats, one has a motor which tows the other boat that carries the fishing net. They immediately launch both boats, while at sea they are linked with rope. As the motor boat takes off, the net boat releases the net. The boats dock on the other end of the beach about 400meters away creating a big arc with the net . Now the fish trap is set. By the time the net reaches the other end, a lot more locals have turned up. There would have been about 50 or so people there. Hand over hand the locals pull the net in from both ends dragging the net closer to the beach and closing the loop. The net is designed so the middle of the net has a catchment area where the fishes are drawn into as the net gets closer to the beach. When they finally drag all the net in, they inspect their bounty. The catch this time was not that great, totalling 10 or so big fish and about 5 buckets of fingerlings, I have been told that the catch has been so bountiful that they had to call on the next neighbourhood to help with the catch. Everyone knew their place in the catch, they were all happy, laughing, joking around it was a simple life. There was a man that was responsible for sharing the fishing haul, he divides them to all who participated and the extras were sold in the markets. And because I was there he also gave me a small portion of the catch, which was a great gesture and I felt overwhelmed with gratitude. I took my portion back to Pannzian Beach Resort and they gladly cooked it for me 2 ways. The first is called “Kilawen” – its Ceviche Filipino style using vinegar, calamsi, chilli. And the other was called “Pinangat” – It’s steamed in a banana leaf

Cradle of Surfing in the Philippines - Sabang Beach Baler, Aurora | VLOG 46
In the late 1970's when the film APOCALYPSE NOW shot their scenes in Baler, little did the film-makers realize that they were dawning the Philippines' surfing culture. Edwin Namoro, as one of the oldest surfers in Baler was just 10 years old back then: Curious and amazed at the sight of the actors surfing(which was something he had never seen before). When the filming was over, surfboards were left behind on the shore so Edwin and his friends picked them up and taught themselves how to ride the waves and the rest is history. That moment entirely changed the course of their lives and the whole country as well.

Baler’s long coastline offers a number of surfing venues in the area. It is available for all types of surfers, whether you are a nubcake or a seasoned one. For beginners, Sabang Beach is the ideal spot because its
waves are breaking on a sand bottom beach and getting wiped out seems a little less intimidating. To catch the best waves, plan on surfing between December and February, when waves hit its peak size(gigantic 2.7 meters).

I make videos of tourist spots in the Philippines. In this video I show you a glimpse of white beach Puerto Galera, and just a few of the fun activities you can enjoy here at Puerto Galera's white beach.
Subscribe:
Puerto Galera is well known for it's abundant Dive sites and beautiful tourist spots surrounding the island, and one of the most popular Puerto Galera beaches on the island here is White Beach.
White Beach is just a quick 15-minute tricycle ride from muelle pier, making it a very accessible choice from any BADLADZ Adventure Resort Properties. Puerto Galera itself is only a 3-hour trip from Manila, making both Puerto Galera and White Beach a popular destination for many tourists visiting the Philippines.
For some of our guests they love to go scuba diving all day at the BADLADZ Dive Resort, or relax by the pool at our Puerto Galera Beach Resort. However, many of the families that stay with us enjoy spending their evenings at White Beach on the weekends to enjoy the fire shows after a fun day of water sports and beach activities with the kids.
So no matter what type of fun you are looking for here in Puerto Galera, BADLADZ is the number one choice for an affordable beach resort in Puerto Galera, and the top choice for couples and Divers looking for a more secluded Puerto Galera resort near White Beach.
Come visit us and enjoy your stay here in Puerto Galera.
Cheers,
Sean
