Places to see in ( Lourdes - France ) Sacre Coeur Parish Church
The present parish church was built between the 28th of July of 1875 and the 8th of September of 1903. It houses Bernadette’s baptismal font. In the crypt lies Abbot Peyramale’s tomb, priest of Lourdes at the times of the visions. Under the bell tower stands a statue of “Bernadette en capulet”, wearing typical regional headdress. The parish church was built in substitution of the ancient Saint-Pierre church, located on the market square (at present the Peyramale square), a church where Bernadette used to go and destroyed by fire in 1904.
Sacre Coeur (Sacred Heart) Parish Church is a church located in the commune of Lourdes in France.Built between 1875 and 1903, it retains many reminders of the old Parish Church of St. Peter that was destroyed. On the right hand side of the transept, is the Baptismal Font where Bernadette was baptised on 9th January 1844, as well as the statues of the Blessed Virgin and St. John the Baptist.
The view from the top and the architecture is just awesome. Even the restaurants and cafes around that place just as awesome with a very nice atmosphere, the only thing is that, it can get a bit pricey around that area.

Sanctuary of Lourdes, Lourdes, Hautes-Pyrénées, Occitanie, France, Europe
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes or the Domain is an area of ground surrounding the Catholic shrine to Our Lady of Lourdes in the town of Lourdes, France. The Sanctuary is a destination for pilgrimage; sick pilgrims are reputed to be miraculously healed by Lourdes water. This ground is owned and administrated by the Roman Catholic Church, and has several functions, including devotional activities, offices, and accommodation for sick pilgrims and their helpers. The Domain includes the Grotto itself, the nearby taps which dispense the Lourdes water, and the offices of the Lourdes Medical Bureau, as well as several churches and basilicas. It comprises an area of 51 hectares, and includes 22 separate places of worship. There are six official languages of the Sanctuary: French, English, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and German. Grottos intended as replicas of the one at Our Lady of Lourdes, and other grottos in honour of Our Lady of Lourdes, are often described as Lourdes grottos. Beginning on 11 February 1858, a 14-year-old peasant girl named Bernadette Soubirous claimed to have experienced a series of apparitions of a girl dressed in white and with a blue belt around her waist, who eventually introduced herself as the Immaculate Conception, a name by which the Virgin Mary was known.

It was a big deal to record video in Sacré-Cœur, having to get permission from the higher ups. I also know that the tripod was crooked for the Normandy performance. I don't think it had a level on it, so it was hard to tell at the time.
Catholic pilgrims in Lourdes procession
(15 Aug 2016) A special prayer was held at a grotto shrine in Lourdes on Monday, for France and for those killed by the blind violence of terrorism in Islamic extremist attacks over the past year-and-a-half, including a priest whose throat was slit last month.
The prayer extended to the soldiers and police officers patrolling the train station, town centre and inside the sanctuary at Lourdes, where a 19th-century village girl said she had visions of the Virgin Mary.
The prayer for France extended to victims of extremism in Iraq, Syria and Pakistan, and persecuted Christians everywhere.
It is all of humanity that is being trampled, The Reverend Fabien Lejeusne said, urging believers to build bridges, and not walls.
The site in southern France near the Spanish border annually draws pilgrims of all kinds, including sick and disabled believers hoping for a cure from the famed spring water in the Lourdes grotto.
Thousands of visitors bearing candles and banners streamed toward the celebrated grotto and the sprawling plaza of the basilica, apparently undeterred by new security restrictions or the recent attacks.
Lourdes officials refused to cancel this year's pilgrimage, although some other summer festivals around France have been dropped amid security fears.
Among those leading ceremonies at the Lourdes festivities is Cardinal Philippe Barbarin, a top French church official who faced accusations this year of covering up for pedophile priests. He denies wrongdoing.
French President Francois Hollande marked Assumption - a national holiday in a country that is officially secular but traditionally Roman Catholic - by announcing a trip to see Pope Francis on Wednesday.
They are expected to discuss the church attack and bilateral relations.
