The Sacred Valley of The Incas I Cusco Peru Travel Vlog
On this episode of the travel vlog, we're in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru.
We left Cusco, Peru early this morning for the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Everyone knows of Machu Picchu, but what lots of people don't realize is that there are thousands of beautiful ruins in Peru. In The Sacred Valley, there are some of the most impressive ruins in all of South America.
We started our day, though, playing with a bunch of Alpacas and llamas at a farm just outside the valley. It was way too much fun.
Eventually, we started our Sacred Valley tour with a stop at the Pisac Ruins. Pisac is one of the most impressive sets of terraces anywhere in the world. The ruins are just unbelievable, and no matter how many times I come back here, it still amazes me.
Afterwards, we headed down into the village of Pisac for a quick wander through the market. I managed to try on a bunch of different hats to get by hat game to the next level.
After lunch, we continued the travel vlog with a drive down the Sacred Valley to the ruins of Ollantaytambo. Like Pisac, the Ollantaytambo ruins are some of the most impressive anywhere in the world, let alone in Peru. We climbed up to the top of the ruins and were left with some of the most impressive views anywhere in Peru. It is absolutely stunning here.
Then, finally, in the evening, we jumped on the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes to finish out our Sacred Valley tour. Town of Aguas Calientes is also known as Machu Picchu Town because it's right at the base of the famous ruins.
Tomorrow, the Peru travel vlog will continue the journey up the hill to Machu Picchu. I can't wait.

Sacred Valley of The Incas Private Tour (The Hidden Gems) By Peru Summit Adventures
Sacred Valley Of The Incas Private Tours (Pisac, Maras Salt Ponds, Moray, Chinchero, Ollantaytambo) is a relaxed and incomparably beautiful and tucked under the tawny skirts of formidable foothills of the Urubamba range, long the home of attractive colonial towns, isolated weaving villages, the Rio (river) Urubamba, massive Incan agricultural terraces, ancient Incan temples. Explore these hidden places with a private guide at your side. The magnificent Incan archaeological sites found from Pisaq to Ollantaytambo and beyond – some of the finest not only in Peru but also in all of the Americas, are testaments to the region’s immense ceremonial importance. The Incas built several of the empire’s greatest estates, temples, and royal palaces between the sacred centers of Cusco and Machu Picchu positioned like great bookends at the south and north ends of the valley. Through the valley rolls the revered Río Urubamba (called in Quechua Willcamayu by the Incas; today it is also called the Vilcanota in one section), a pivotal religious element of the Incas’ cosmology. The Incas believed not only that the flow of the Urubamba was inexorably tied to the constellations and the mountain peaks, but also that the river was the earthbound counterpart of the Milky Way. With the river as its source, the fertile valley was a major center of agricultural production for the Incas, who grew native Andean crops such as white corn, coca, potatoes, and other fruits and vegetables in expansive fields and along spectacularly terraced mountain slopes. The valley continues to serve as a breadbasket for Cusco, providing grains, potatoes, peaches, avocados, and much more. Join us on this once in lifetime experience!

The Sacred Valley, Ollantaytambo and Pinkuylluna Ruins, Peru
The Sacred Valley and Ollantaytambo were suggested to us by a guy we met in Arequipa. We had never heard of Ollantaytambo (O-yahn-tay-tom-bow) and can barely say it at times. However, after spending some time in Cusco we were ready to get out of the town of tourism, hawkers and inflated prices to a place with a slower place and check out some ruins. Ollantaytambo is a village in the Sacred Valley in the south of Peru, on the Urubamba River. The Ollantaytambo ruins are a massive Inca fortress with large stone terraces on a hillside. It is said that Francisco Pizarro and the conquistadors of Spain in the 1500s, sent his younger brother Hernando, with 70 fighters on horseback to take Ollantaytambo. The Incas held them off in their stronghold, only one of a few in all of Peru. They eventually left the area for higher ground and relinquished the village to the Spanish. The village's old town is an Inca-era grid of cobblestone streets and adobe buildings that make you feel as if you are back in medieval times. With its narrow cobblestone streets and passages, it was almost reminiscent of Varanasi in India. We couldn't wait to get exploring the surrounding ruins and village.
The Sacred Valley of the Incas | Peru Travel Vlog 2019 | Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, Maras, Moray
The Sacred Valley of the Incas | Peru Travel 2019 | Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, Maras, Moray ✈️ From Lima we flew to Cusco and took a transport down to Urubamba in the Sacred Valley. We had no organized tours arranged because we were unsure how we'd react to the high altitude and wanted to have flexibility and allow time to adjust. Once we arrived we felt great and ready to explore, so we used the local mini taxis for short trips around Urubamba. We also negotiated a tour around the Sacred Valley with a regular taxi driver. At our request, he took us to Ollantaytambo, Maras, and Moray, and even recommended a wonderful place for lunch. We loved the Sacred Valley. What a beautiful place! ✈️ #SacredValley #Peru #Urubamba #blacktravel #couplestravel
