Climbing means going up. It is a physical activity that can be performed on gradients such as hills, mountains or the flights of stairs in a building. It is also a pole or a tree climbing, or along the wall of a building. Mountaineering and climbing are not entirely synonymous terms. Under climbing in the narrower sense is usually that discipline within the mountaineering meant in a broader sense, including the arms and hands are used and which above all the power in the hands and fingers is important and what safety reasons, without training or preparation can be practiced.
Climbing referred to in this article is usually done as a sport or recreation. The emphasis is more on balance climbing and climbing agility rather than brute force. Climbing is done in the open air in climbing areas on rocks in mountains, sometimes on ice. It is also on artificial climbing walls for instance practiced in climbing gyms. Although often climb as a risk sport is seen, there is no need to be unnecessary risk. Climbing Accidents are rare when climbing in climbing gyms, with the mountaineering is quite high contrast.
Short ascents are usually protected by a climbing rope through a fuse to pick up the trail. This way of climbing called top rope climbing. This is done in pairs: the belayer on the ground pulls the rope tight for the climber. In climbing centers in the Netherlands, this method is very common.
In countries like Switzerland and Austria can only climb in climbing gyms. This means that there is no upper hook with a rope is in it. You must bring the rope itself to be secured. Every few meters you secure your rope to a hook in the rock. If you fall, you fall into so was pinned under the previous point where your rope. Again, you are in pairs. One person is the climber, the other the insurer. The climber climbs up and puts the safety and leads his climbing rope through these protections. The insurer, which remains gives rope and blocks the rope as the climber falling.
The Teide is a volcano located on the island of Tenerife ( Canary Islands, Spain ). With an altitude of 3718 meters above sea level and 7500 meters above the ocean floor, is the highest peak in Spain, that of any landmass of the Atlantic Ocean and the third largest volcano on earth from its base on the ocean floor after Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, both on the island of Hawaii. 1 The altitude of the Teide also makes the island of Tenerife in the tenth highest island in the world.
It is located in the Teide National Park in the geographic center of the island of Tenerife and forms a very symbolic element, highlighting their specific geomorphological features that define the landscape and make it the most iconic natural symbol of the island of Tenerife and the Archipelago Canario. With an area 3606.7 hectares is within the municipal boundaries of La Orotava, Santiago del Teide, Guia de Isora, Vilaflor, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Fasnia and Icod.
Throughout the centuries the Teide has been mentioned and admired by different cultures and at different times as centralizing element and symbolic of the island of Tenerife and the rest of the archipelago. The development of the island of Tenerife is analogous to the formation of other oceanic islands. The beginnings of the formation of the island of Tenerife, occurred through three structural guidelines (northeast-southwest, northwest-southeast and north-south) in the oceanic basement.
At this stage, the drainage system began to form, and much of the network of ravines that can be observed in Tenerife was created. The Teide is the main symbol of the island of Tenerife and the most emblematic natural monument of the Canary Islands. Teide image appears in the center of the coat of arms of the island of Tenerife spitting fire on the volcano appears St. Michael the Archangel (patron saint of Tenerife). Meanwhile the colors of the flag of the island, are traditionally identified with the sea (the Navy ), due to the insular nature of Tenerife and white to the whiteness of the snow covered peaks of Mount Teide and during the winter.
